We travel to the far ends of Planet Progressive this week, and the home of a proud Welshman making waves in New Zealand. His passion and dedication to our scene spans over 20 years, with several quality releases under his belt too. PFG make some noise for the brilliant Nick Lewis!

Nick is a Welsh DJ/Producer, now living in NewZealand, who first caught the electronic music bug in 1989. Initially it was through the more commercial tracks that made it into the charts, but it didn't take long before a healthy raving & crate digging addiction was formed. From this point Nick was either spending time in record stores, dancing at illegal raves, or on the dancefloors of clubs like Lakota, The Crystal Rooms, and Brunel Rooms.

The moment it all changed for him was hearing FSOL's Papua New Guinea for the first time. This ethereal sound took Nick down a musical rabbit hole, where he later discovered artists like Áutechre, Aphex Twin & B12. The more ambient, atmospheric, vibe, has always influenced Nick's choice of music. 

Soon after he started making 'mixtapes' by pausing one track and bringing in another, which is always fun to do! It was when he got his hands on a pair of Soundlab Belt Drives, and learning to mix to a reasonable standard with them, that the DJ bug bit hard! Like so many others, Nick looked to the likes of Sasha & also James Zabiela whilst refining his art, and production came naturally after that. 

As far as production goes Nick was fortunate to get a remix on a GU compilation early on, and more recently has had his music released on Massive Harmony, Stellar Fountain, and Be Adult Music. 

In 2022 Nick got three of his releases into Beatports Top ten, while for 2023  he will be working on another collaboration, with the super talented Darren Ray, amongst plenty of of other projects in the pipeline on his own label, Emotional Content.

Nick has taken his DJ talents as far afield as Siberia, Europe and now regularly plays at boutique festivals in New Zealand, while also holding down monthly slots on Frisky and Proton Radio respectively.

For this special set, Nick showcases his skill of combining several genres into a beautiful musical journey,  taking in ambient, breaks and deeper house cuts, before settling into a cool progressive vibe, and ending with some legendary anthems to boot. Enjoy the mix!

Currently living in New Zealand, I'm a Welsh DJ/Producer, whose passion for electronic music spans over 25 years. Although I consider myself a Progressive House DJ, I rarely stick to one genre during a set.

"Valera Obuhov, aka VAO, was born in 1981 and grew up in the south of Russia in the city of Krasnodar, near the Black Sea coast, where parties with the participation of various stars of the electronic scene began to take place back in the 90's. Such as the KaZantip held in the Republic of Crimea from 1992 to 2013. Also bringing foreign artists such as Anthony Pappa to the "Kakady Club" in 2007. Оn July 20th, 2012, a party with John Digweed and Denis A took place in the Krasnodar nightclub "Sugar". It was during these years that he fell in love with electronic music and completely immersed himself in it. 1996 was the peak of the growing popularity of electronic music in Russia and the appearance of numerous top clubs and events. His musical taste was formed thanks to such artists as Anthony Pappa, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and many others. In 2017, he decided to start recording mixes for friends and various music communities, realizing that without music, our life is nothing but routine. To this day, he tries to please his friends with mixes in the style of progressive house and melodic techno, his favorite musical directions"

From early childhood car rides soundtracked by Jean-Michel Jarre to headlining underground club nights across the UK, Erik’s journey through electronic music has always been one of deep connection and evolution. Based on the South Coast of England, his love affair with sound began in the most organic of ways — through the speakers of his family’s car, where electronic music first captured his imagination.

“Music was always playing at home, but it was those long holiday drives with Jarre that really imprinted something on me. That’s where it all started.”

By the early ’90s, Erik had taken to the decks, diving headfirst into the UK’s vibrant club culture. What followed was a decades-spanning path through residencies, raves, and underground venues — including standout stints at Bournemouth’s flagship progressive and techno night Terminal, as well as the Twisted Global parties that defined a generation of South Coast dance music lovers.

Erik’s sound is fluid yet unmistakably his own. His DJ sets move seamlessly between deep house, progressive trance, atmospheric breaks, and driving techno — built on a foundation of lush textures, haunting melodies, and tightly wound grooves. Whether warming up a room or closing it down, Erik’s sets are more than just selections — they’re sonic narratives crafted for the dancefloor.

As a producer, Erik brings the same storytelling sensibility into the studio. His productions have caught the ears of a diverse group of global tastemakers, earning support from legends such as Nick Warren, Umek, Cristian Varela, and Meat Katie. With releases on respected imprints like Lowering the Tone, Prognosis, Krafted Records, AH Digital, Gibbon Records, and Wight Label Records, Erik has built a discography that balances depth, energy, and emotional resonance.

Now serving as the President DJ for Bournemouth-based Revibe Emotions, Erik continues to contribute to the scene — not just as a performer or producer, but as a curator, mentor, and ambassador for the underground. Whether on stage or in the studio, his mission remains the same: to create meaningful musical experiences that move bodies, stir emotions, and stay with listeners long after the final beat..

Graham has been involved in dance music since the mid-1990's. He has played clubs and festivals throughout the UK, Europe, America and Australia. He has held residencies at UK clubs and promoted club nights including the underground sensation Empathy in the heart of London. 
Graham has produced music under a number of guises and partnerships for various labels and continues to produce electronic music under his name. His current projects include the online forum Global Electronic which caters for electronic music lovers. He is the owner of Saturday Social, an Australian Underground event promotion offering unique and exclusive parties.
