We're back in the North of England, and the home of one of our group members, an artist with a wealth of experience in our scene. PFG give it up for Matt Black!

Born in the North East and brought up in the South West, Matt Black has been DJing and making music for around 25 years. He moved to London in 1991 where he discovered his love for dance music and raving. Even though his original love was hardcore & Drum and Bass, it was upon hearing a John Digweed mix tape in 1994 that he realised his musical calling in life.

Matt began by playing in pubs and bars around South London, before getting his first club gig in 1995. Since then he has played for a number of London's biggest underground promoters as well as Empathy in Bristol, Riff Raff in Middlesbrough and The Gallery in London where he warmed up for none other than Dave Seaman. Matt has also performed in countries such as Poland and Mexico.

Recently Matts track 1994 was signed to the legendary Perfecto Black and has even played by Paul Oakenfold on his Planet Perfecto radio show numerous times. Matt has also had releases signed to labels such as Bonzai Progressive, Pro B Tech and others, and his remix of Cameron Mo’s 'Faultline' even made it on to the main Perfecto label!

Matt has two residencies on major internet radio stations. His Housefeelings show on Frisky radio broadcasts on the 3rd Thursday of every month and regularly gets around 5000 listeners, while his long running Acoustic Pleasure show on Proton Radio broadcasts on the 4th Tuesday of every month and has featured guest mixes from the likes of Luke Brancaccio, Richie Blacker and many more legendary names from the Progressive House music scene

Matt is currently working hard in the studio and has a new release, 'Beautiful World' feat. Daniela Rhodes, out 2nd September. You can catch Matt playing in September too, at the cool looking Coalition Underground, at Kanteena in Lancs, alongside 3D-DJs & Lexicon Avenue.

PFG The Progcast - Episode 131 - Matt Black

This week we stamp your passport for a brand new country, as Spain awaits! Finally making the trip to this beautiful country, there could only be one outfit that fits the bill. Over the last ten years, the musical adventure connecting David López and Carlos Cruz (Lopezhouse) has created an important niche in the electronic music scene.  

 After a series of purely underground releases, the duo burst onto the international scene in 2015 thanks to the single 'Mude Tod' released on the prolific Dirtybird label run by Claude VonStroke. Since then, the La Mancha duo growth hasn’t stopped, dropping releases on such important European labels as Berlin’s Exploited or Solomun’s Diynamic Music.   It was around this time that Lopezhouse were noticed by the electronic music legend John Digweed. He was so impressed with them he had them signed to Bedrock Records almost immediately! 

Over the years LopezHouse have released tracks on different labels such as the enigmatic 'Murnau' on the German label Kittball Records, or the renowned 'Crosses and Angels' released on Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records, one of the biggest names in Progressive House. It was this production that appeared on the 2016 Tomorrowland compilation, and on John Digweed's Live In Brooklyn release, recorded at Output. These releases made it possible for the La Mancha duo to perform at the popular Belgian festival in 2016. 

They also had a track, chosen by Solomun, on the 9th edition of the ‘Four to the Floor’  Diynamic Records compilation. This compilation contains tracks that the founder of the label personally chooses because they are ‘made for the dancefloor’. With this purpose, he chose 'Dark Place', a track Solomun played in every set in 2017! 

Also in 2017 LopezHouse debuted on Bedrock, introducing the EP ‘November Clouds/Otsaila’. In 2018 they released the EP ‘Barred Out’ on Valencian label Sincopat with Sascha Robotti, and the EP ‘Motorik’ on Suara Music, a track that both Sasha and John chose as one of the 10 best tracks of 2018. They also released the highly praised EP ‘Arratsaldean’ featuring a masterful remix by techno baron Dave Clarke.  On Bedrock, their EPs ‘Something Is Happening’ (2019) ‘Sunburst’ (2020) & Vostok (2021) were all released to critcal acclaim, followed (last, but not least) in 2021 by ‘Apollo’ their first full-length work.   It is their most daring and experimental work up to date, moving away from the dance floor with a mixture of Kraut & Post-rock essences, in tune with other styles like Ambient, Synth-wave and dark Disco. It can be considered as a turning point in their career that starts 2022 with renewed energy. LopezHouse will be offering the public a new live show full of soul, character and quality that looks to continue the last decades upwards trajectory.

Amir’s capacity for storytelling using sound design – both comforting and challenging, equally adept at creating deep, organic or progressive house, Amir’s production’s are often borderless, appealing to a broad range of DJs and in turn finding a place on the world’s largest dance floors.

Merging Organic House, Progressive, Indie, Breakbeat, Melodic & Peak time Techno, Amir’s DJ sets are a journey of healing and relief, derived by his own original music, from the deepest part of his soul.

After releasing his music on some of the best labels in the underground music scene, such as Click, 3000Grad, Perspectives Digital and many more, Amir is establishing himself as a rising star while growing a community of followers worldwide.

Amir is an experienced yoga and meditation certified instructor and holds a master’s degree from New York University. He sees music as a mission, as his personal Dharma.

Amir's music has been remixed by some of the greatest names in the industry: Soul-Button, Marc DePulse, Lehar, D-Nox, Matan Caspi, Kamilo Sanclemente, Death on the Balcony and more. Also, his music has been officially supported and played by Artbat, Solomun, Eelke Kleijn, Nick Warren and many other respected DJs.

Amir has played DJ sets all around the world, like Burning Man, Gratitude Migration (NJ)Members Camp-Out (NY) Magic in Zulum (Tulum) 3000Grad (GER)and other festivals and clubs in New York, Germany, Mexico and Israel.

The 96th edition of Juicebox Radio welcomes Juan Pablo Buitrago Amaya - better known as Juan Buitrago from Colombia. Born in the city of Ibagué, Colombia and currently situated in Buenos Aires (Argentina), he started to DJ observing his colleagues and friends, and hence felt the need to place his own ideas in composition. Juan's sound pulls off a combination of complex yet expressive and detailed soundscapes, flowing primarily in the progressive house spectrum and captivating listeners on the dance floor. Having managed to drop music on The Soundgarden, Mango Alley, Deepwibe Underground and many more - braced and supported by Guy J, Eelke Kleijn, Hernan Cattaneo just to name a few, we're ready for Juan Buitrago to take over this episode of our show with an exclusive 70-minute set.
