Hello Everyone, and welcome to another prog packed edition of our exclusive podcast! Every week we take you around the globe in search of the best beats and rhythms we can find, and deliver them direct to your music collections! 

We are back in Wales this week, an overdue return that has reaped a big return! Our artist is no stranger to our listeners, as we have been delivering shows with Subcode for many a year. It's time we returned the favour, as he has now put a superb set together just for us ..... make some noise for Marc Brommel!!

Marc is the Co-Founder of Subcode and has been part of the underground music scene for over two decades. He started his journey into music at a very young age thanks to his parents, who held love for Electronica and Progressive rock and had an extensive record collection he would often be found lost in. 

By the age of 14, as the early underground rave movement swept the UK and he began to go to numerous events, he discovered an interest in the technical and creative expression of DJing. Marc then purchased his first turntables and began to collect Jungle and Electronica records. 

Marc refined his style through years of practice and determination, and his love of LTJ Bukem and Jean-Michel Jarre, which led him to incorporate the deeper synth sounds into his sets. It was here that Marc discovered his love for all things house, with Ministry of Sound, Global Underground, Renaissance and the world acclaimed Northern Exposure series impacting his style deeply.

Marc soon became familiar with artists such as Sasha, John Digweed, Brothers in Rhythm, Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier and Paul Oakenfold to name a few. Keen to follow in their footsteps Marc began hosting a successful night, Psykotik, with his close friends. This ran for over seven years and attracted global headline acts from the underground scene and gave Marc the  recognition as a tour de force in both Progressive House and Jungle.

Marc soon entered into a longstanding residency at the legendary Lakota Club in Bristol, remaining for 6 years playing Acid Techno, Jungle and Dark Progressive House alongside some of the scene’s largest acts, cementing his place firmly in the Bristol DJ collective and becoming known as one of the hardest working DJs in his circles. 

Marc has since ensured he keeps busy playing various clubs, festivals and radio stations up and down the UK, including Motion in Bristol, Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff, Brixton Academy, Basing House London, The Flourmill in Blackwood, and Goodes Bar & Terrace, which is his local venue in Cwmbran. 

Recently Marc has graced the decks with the likes of Cool House's Dave Mills, Forensic Records Lexicon Avenue, Enertia-Sound, Hydraulix label owner and techno legend Dave The Drummer, and has forthcoming events with Aubrey Fry and JP Lantieri on the cards.

Marc now incorporates driving progressive vibes, techno tinged beats and select melodies and vocals to complete the raw and addictive style he has become loved for.  ENJOY THE MIX!

Hailing from Northern Ireland, Willy is a passionate lover of progressive house, known for his deep, melodic, and emotive soundscapes. Resident at Organic Deep House Radio, Encyclopedia Radio and Decked Out Derry. Willy consistently delivers cutting-edge sounds that resonate with progressive house enthusiasts. Willy is also a member of House Music Collective, Sebastian Markiewicz's Compatible Music and a regular on Eve Novoa's Midnight Express FM

I like to create mixes of atmospheric progressive house, with the occasional bit of techno thrown in too. I always strive to make every mix a proper journey, hopefully ebbing and flowing whilst balancing dark and light, throughout. 

All my mixes contain a blend of propulsive, driving tracks, coupled with deeper, more emotional productions. There is so much amazing music out there, and I always aim to do it justice, and put any track in a context that will give it maximum impact - whilst still fitting perfectly with the mix as a whole. 

I know when the time is right to record a mix, as I feel an absolute compulsion to do so. Everything uploaded to this page has come about as a result of that. I hope they all convey the overall feeling, and warmth, that I was striving for.

I am immensely proud of all of the mixes I have uploaded to my page, and the many others that are hosted elsewhere on this site - all of which can be found my playlists. I very much hope that any of you kind enough to take the time to listen, enjoy them.

In addition, I was a winner in a mix competition judged by Quivver in 2017, a hugely proud moment. I have also done guest mixes for Gai Barone's Patterns show, Il Modo, PFG, Saturo Sounds, 21C Progressive House and Melodic Distraction.

A bit about me: I am Edinburgh born and bred, I feel incredibly lucky to call this beautiful city home. Growing up, the house was always full of music thanks to my parents. I was also lucky enough to be exposed to some fantastic music thanks to my older brother's exemplary taste.

When branching out on my own, of a wide variety of genres, Depeche Mode were the band that spoke to me the most - with honourable mentions to New Order and The Smiths. 

Even as a young child, the dark atmosphere of their tracks resonated with me, and that has been the biggest influence on the kind of progressive house that I play in my sets.

It was early 90s rave music that first got me into dance music, but it was hearing the bassline on Orbital's 'Halcyon' for the first time in 1995 that made me realise that such music could move you in many, many more ways. 

Seeing Leftfield live in 1996 at the Barrowlands in Glasgow remains the most incredible music experience I've ever had. I was a regular at some seminal Edinburgh clubs in the late 90s and early 2000s, but it was at the legendary Taste where I truly found my clubbing utopia. 

In 2006, thanks to the generosity of Mark and Brian at a Taste afterparty, I had a shot of CDJs for the first time. Later that year, thanks to the advent of virtual DJing, I began recording mixes. I've never really stopped since.

In terms of influences from the world of progressive house, there are too many to mention - but Quivver is my all time favourite producer. As such, when my December 2017 mix was picked out by him for a mix competition he was running, it was among the proudest moments of my life.

I would always consider myself to be a bedroom (or living room!) DJ first and foremost, but I have been lucky enough to play at some fantastic clubs and venues.

I made several appearances at Karnival in Edinburgh, the undoubted highlight of which was appearing on the same bill as Inner City. I was also lucky enough to play at (the sadly now defunct) Kinfolk in Brooklyn NYC, with two of my closest friends.

If DJing was something I never thought I'd end up doing, making music most certainly wasn't - but thanks to Edinburgh legend Kev Wright, I have co-produced numerous tracks that have been released since 2011.

Through Kev I was also lucky enough to tag along with he, Gary and the Beat Laundry crew - and playing live streams during lockdown, with that amazing community, managed to put so many special times into an era that was so challenging for everyone.

My true happy place has always been playing at parties in my living room, or at a friend's house, with a great group of people. 

Those opportunities are few and far between now since my amazing daughter Anya was born in 2023 - but I'm at a different stage of life now, and I am blessed to have this amazing addition to an already phenomenal family.

Making mixes will never leave me though, and I very much hope to still continue to do so, as much as I can, going forward. As much as it's amazing playing in front of a crowd that you're in sync with, I love the permanence of a recorded mix.

There is no better feeling than receiving messages from someone you haven't met, on the other side of the world, letting you know that they are enjoying something that you have created.

As long as I feel compelled to keep putting them together, I will most definitely do so.

From early childhood car rides soundtracked by Jean-Michel Jarre to headlining underground club nights across the UK, Erik’s journey through electronic music has always been one of deep connection and evolution. Based on the South Coast of England, his love affair with sound began in the most organic of ways — through the speakers of his family’s car, where electronic music first captured his imagination.

“Music was always playing at home, but it was those long holiday drives with Jarre that really imprinted something on me. That’s where it all started.”

By the early ’90s, Erik had taken to the decks, diving headfirst into the UK’s vibrant club culture. What followed was a decades-spanning path through residencies, raves, and underground venues — including standout stints at Bournemouth’s flagship progressive and techno night Terminal, as well as the Twisted Global parties that defined a generation of South Coast dance music lovers.

Erik’s sound is fluid yet unmistakably his own. His DJ sets move seamlessly between deep house, progressive trance, atmospheric breaks, and driving techno — built on a foundation of lush textures, haunting melodies, and tightly wound grooves. Whether warming up a room or closing it down, Erik’s sets are more than just selections — they’re sonic narratives crafted for the dancefloor.

As a producer, Erik brings the same storytelling sensibility into the studio. His productions have caught the ears of a diverse group of global tastemakers, earning support from legends such as Nick Warren, Umek, Cristian Varela, and Meat Katie. With releases on respected imprints like Lowering the Tone, Prognosis, Krafted Records, AH Digital, Gibbon Records, and Wight Label Records, Erik has built a discography that balances depth, energy, and emotional resonance.

Now serving as the President DJ for Bournemouth-based Revibe Emotions, Erik continues to contribute to the scene — not just as a performer or producer, but as a curator, mentor, and ambassador for the underground. Whether on stage or in the studio, his mission remains the same: to create meaningful musical experiences that move bodies, stir emotions, and stay with listeners long after the final beat..
