It's a short trip this week, as we travel north to the capital of NI, Belfast! We drop into the world of not one, but TWO class acts making big noises in our scene of late... you heard us right, time for a B2B for the first time in a long time. Party people make some noise for GSEP & Rikki Sawyer, back to back!

Hailing from the vibrant city of Belfast, GSEP & Rikki Sawyer are in their own rights brilliant electronic music artists. With their unique blend of Progressive sounds, they have left an indelible mark on the industry, and whatever they put their minds to. 

John Martin is an Electronic DJ/Producer who goes by the alias of GSEP. It was in the early 90’s that his interest grew to become a DJ, clubs like Circus Circus in Banbridge, Charlie Haggertys in Bangor, and Kelly’s (which went on to become Lush years later) in Port Rush were his weekly haunts, and soon got him hooked on house music as John’s journey into the world of Dj’ing began.

He got his first set of decks when he was 18 and spent many hours locked away creating and perfecting the type of music he enjoyed. The years that followed saw him become a resident DJ at clubs in Belfast, but in 2006 his big break came, when the mighty Lush in Portrush picked him as their breakthrough DJ. John was seen to play alongside Nik Fanciulli, Jon Checcini, Jon Carter, Col Hamilton and many others.

Even though John creates his own style of music he has had many influences; Dave Seaman, John Digweed, Nick Warren, Paul Oakenfold to name but a few. But the biggest has got to be Sasha, it was Sasha’s style and technique that John aspired too in his dream to become a DJ. 

John is now an established quality Producer, with many releases and remixes under his belt from labels like Perfecto Black, BC2, Whose Haus, Pangea, and many more, earning rave reviews from the senior players on the circuit.

Rikki Sawyer is undeniably a strong Producer/Artist with a wide portfolio of experience in the studio, but more recently with releases on Progressive/Techno giant Lowbit Records, has seen Rikki pushing his unique sound further up the underground ladder.

Together, their dedication to pushing the boundaries of electronic music has solidified their place within the Progressive House scene. Releases on imprints such as The Soundgarden, Forensic, Perfecto Records, and Hooj Choons has seen them garner more attention and acclaim from industry veterans such as Warren, Oakenfold and many more, with regular plays on various Global Radio shows... just like this one!
