Born in the South and based in the North, Gus is a British producer who makes music that sounds Italian. If that's not confusing, he also makes Detroit-influenced Techno as Emotive Systems.

ABOUT CHEWY RUBS
Chewy Rubs, known to his mom as Tom grew up immersed in an eclectic mix of music. He learned to mix rather than learning to drive, wisely buying his first 1200’s instead of a car. He passed his test with flying colors and first graced the wheels of steel in his hometown of Hereford at the legendary Naughty But Nice during the mid-nineties.

Having moved to Glasgow and then onto London he continued his musical education in breaks and Hip Hop listening to the The Operators and by working in a central London vinyl emporium where the endless supply of fresh vinyl, back catalogues and  encircled by renowned shops like fat Cat, Black Market, Sista Ray & Phonica meant he could continuously indulge his passion for rare, limited edition & imported wax.

Production was a natural next step & after mastering Ableton & with the help of Soundcloud, his influences gelled into the Chewy Rubs sound. A steady tranche of killer edits followed w/ support from Greg Wilson, Tiger & Woods, Derek Kaye, Danny Krivit, Fingerman & Yam Who? along w/ a growing fan base of global disco lovers across social media.
Chewy Rubs continues to deliver a steady stream of new edits on key labels like Hot Digits, Midnight Riot Records & Seamus Haji's Re-Loved

A true 'Maestro' of this game, and honcho of Astrolead Recordings, in my opinion, one of the BIG 'Under The Radar' gem imprints of the underground retro electronic disco influenced scene.
Music made 100% by him in our beautiful homeland, the Canary Islands.
This uber talented artist I can call one of my best and oldest friend starting this cosmic trip almost when we were very very young evidently deserves much more focus due to his endless impulse to push the limits of quality beyond the Tannhäuser Gate, far away from this planet.

Biography:

Ilya Santana is a name that echoes through the shimmering corridors of electronic music, particularly in the realms of space disco and cosmic funk. Born and raised in the Canary Islands, a place where the Atlantic meets the dust of Africa, Santana found himself drawn to the edges of sound early on—edges where melody could float, and rhythm didn’t have to march. He came up through the analog warmth of the ‘70s and the cold seduction of the ‘80s, and somehow fused both into his own kind of future nostalgia.

His career took root in the early 2000s, not through grand gestures but through consistency—a steady stream of releases that wound their way through labels like Balearic stalwarts Eskimo Recordings and Nang. Each track, a kind of ode to neon dreams and late-night drives, became a testament to Santana’s gift for atmosphere: his music doesn’t just play, it inhabits. There’s a cinematic quality to his work, like he’s scoring the movie of a life that’s never quite real but always feels familiar.

Ilya’s sound is less about chart-topping bravado and more about evocation. It lingers. It hums beneath the surface of memory. Ilya is running his own record label "Astrolead recordings" specialized on the most underground side of Disco, Space/Cosmic disco, Retro and Synthwave.
Also started duties as a sound designer crafting sample/loops packages for "Loopmasters"
