Thrymmatízo explores the relationship between timbral and temporal realms.  Throughout the work, the brief sounds of glass smashing (thrymmatízo translates from Greek as "shatter") coalesce into sustained textures while the elongated sounds of bowed glass fragment into brief moments.  These timbral differences form a dialogue that creates the work's main interest and conflict.

Mercurial gets its title from both the raw material used in its creation and the nature of its musical discourse.  Like its elemental namesake, the piece's sound world is a continuum between metal and water sources, with various processes fusing and mediating between each.  The piece's discourse is also distinctly 'mercurial' in that highly complex and dynamic sonic structures coalesce from the interaction of individual sounds.  The result is a phantasmic exploration of the sonic potential held within the source materials.

Veils gets its title from the overall shape of its sonic progression: from distant, slow moving, and indistinct sounds to discrete, resonant, and distinctly pitched material.  I liken this progression to a slow revealing of hidden beauty, much like pulling layered veils from a work of art.  Within this overall shape, certain compositional decisions are determined at performance time by logic built into the computer playback system.  By using this logic, every performance realizes a variety of unique details within the same overall progression.
