This song is about a brief summer fling and the exploration that happens during and afterward, with themes of self-reflection, health and growth. We asked Clare Byrne to make this risograph frame animation video, which displays a series of distorted yet familiar clips of nature scenes and isolated settings. This song was a massive collaboration with many different people involved, and we're thrilled to have it out in the world. Thanks for listening!

Imaginary Friend’s second EP reflects upon how our expectations of life change during our twenties, leading us to new maturity. Once believing in the grand love, one soon enjoys the state of being infatuated with a touch of self-irony – well aware that happiness hormones don't always tell the truth. The first track, "Lovestoned," is therefore a completely exaggerated, almost absurd declaration of love that nevertheless celebrates the intoxicating feeling of being in love. Alternatively, one makes peace with the idea of not necessarily becoming the best at something – which is okay as long as you enjoy it, which is what "Courage +1" is about. "Old These Days" takes a disillusioned look behind the facade of career and the performance society, much like many followers of Generation Y do after their initial years in the workforce. "Your Sweetheart" may initially sound like a simple love song, but negotiates the uncertainty that can set in a relationship after the magic of the beginning has faded. The title track, "With You," is a song about both saying goodbye and staying – about how big plans sometimes need to be tossed aside when the heart longs for something else. Finally, "Songbirds" advocates for maintaining one's individuality in a partnership, rather than losing oneself in it – yet still staying connected.

On this single, I have collaborated with Early Retirement from Saabrücken to create the perfect blend of both our styles: Reminiscent of the upbeat, energetic sound of 2000s College Rock anthems with driving drums and catchy hooks on one hand, on the other the playful "Slacker Pop" vibes which give it a dreamy feeling at the same time! This mixed bag of emotions also resonates in the lyrics - are we just chasing after a beautiful girl here or is there more to the story?

About 6 months ago I created this song. I had just moved and everything was kind of new and exciting. I needed to reflect on so many aspects of my life and then this song happened. Originally it was way longer and more hectic in the beginning but I cut it shorter cause it didnt feel right.
