Sorry Escalator’s AA Side single ‘Generation Winter / Street Corner Absurdity’ is the band’s first release on new label Imagination Engine and is a darker beast than the infectious alt/indie of the bands eponymous debut.

Through reverberating distortion, lead guitarist Lockwood’s trademark tension twists like a knife. That razor-sharp release of emotion epitomises the theme at the centre of the opener ‘Generation Winter’. Lavish imagery and wry smiles are conjured in the mind by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Ryan’s lyrics. Beating at the resistant heart of this track drummer Sean Graham’s pulsating amen break resonates with metronomic regularity and when underpinned by Jamie Hogg’s rare-groove, funky, narrative yet still distinctly UK indie bassline makes for a deep, dark yet danceable track.

‘Street Corner Absurdity’ renders the imagination captive in a dirge of despondent distortion. Pinned down by a sinister undercurrent waves of percussion splash awash amongst searing guitar sounds. The lyrical dark matter and the magnitude and magnetism of the bassline holds the minds eye in its gravitational pull.  This track, arising as a response to the current global and local, social, economic, political and cultural conditions reaches the dystopian realms within the broad spectrum of psychedelia. Yet in that distinctive Sorry Escalator way blends the lyrical engagement in challenging concepts with an awesomely powerful and energetic live sound. 
Having headlined and support supported The Wytches, Great Ytene and Fufanu to name but a few. The bands solid touring this summer has the new line up tight and sounding fantastic. Playing and performing together on this perpetual and hazy cycle of gigs and roadtrips has given the band a developed edge. Their sound more nu-gaze than shoe-gaze retains all the fuzz, feel and flow but is broader, warmer and louder. Heady emotive music for the mind and body.

A Limited edition cassette of Sorry Escalator's double A-side release 'Generation Winter/Street Corner Absurdity' on Imagination Engine Records. One of a run of 50. 40 of the cassettes are in White shells and come with digital download code card, exclusive hand made hand numbered SRY ESC logo insert (1/25) or Imagination Engine Records logo insert (1/25). 10 of the cassettes randomly inserted into the run come on rare hand painted White and Black splatter effect shells.
