Josin – the project from German composer and producer Arabella Rauch – has released the title track from her new album In The Blank Space which will be released on January 25th, 2019 via Dumont Dumont / MVKA /CNTCT

“‘In The Blank Space’ is the most recent song I’ve written,” explains Josin. “I’m trying to describe a state where you actually want to get lost in a space, because that nothingness is full of everything. “Completion, if I get caught in your web."
It can shift and bend and creates all shades, if you accept to be only one little atom. It´s about being content and conscious of all the things, that could be overlooked or forgotten. But everything you long for is around you.”


To mark the release of In The Blank Space, Josin will be going on a headline tour of Europe in February 2019 – full tour details below. 

Born in Cologne to a Korean mother and German father, both of whom are opera singers, Josin grew up in a household with music at its centre. It was while at medical school in Nice that the desire to make her own music became unavoidable. “I decided to follow the artistic path,” Josin explains. “I did my first year of medical school and this was what I wanted to do since I was a kid. Somehow I never really saw what was right in front of me the whole time - music. Maybe because my parents are musicians and it was so normal to be in an artistic surrounding. I quickly realized both music and medicine needed a 200% commitment and that was a long-time inner struggle. Music won! I think what brought me to this decision, was knowing that I could never listen to music again if I didn´t do it in this life or at least tried.”

Josin’s debut album sees a dynamic blend of electronic jolts, enhanced by keyboards and haunting poetic vocals that draw on a variety of traditions, from classical to electronic. As a self-taught producer, Josin is always experimenting, incorporating the electronical world into her writing as well as composing string arrangements. 

Earlier this year Josin released a version of album track ‘Company’ by Kiasmos, the electronic duo made up of BAFTA-winning Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds, and the Faroe Islands’ Janus Rasmussen. Kiasmos’ take on ‘Company’ maintains the raw beauty of the original vocal and combines it perfectly with a distinctly Kiasmos style, creating affecting and emotional soundscapes from a minimal electronic approach.

Imbibe are brothers Tennyson and Holden Nobel. Born and raised in Byron Bay, the duo packed their bags for the creative suburbs of Berlin where they’ve honed their off-centre pop sounds, instantly turning heads in both their native Australia and across Europe. 

The duo burst on to the scene last year with the release of early singles Mirage and Touchdown, gaining support from Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Berlin’s Flux FM and being hotly tipped in end of year lists from Dork Magazine and NME. 

Through live performances, including a high-profile support slot with fellow Australian/Berliners Parcels, which included a huge show at London’s Roundhouse, the brothers are now ready to take 2019 by storm and today share their new single Reflections, a tale on how hindsight is a beautiful thing.

“A few years ago Holden & I had a big disagreement” explains Tennyson on the origins of the track. “Later that day he arrived home with an Italian Farfisa synthesizer as a peace offering. ‘Reflections’ was the first song I wrote on it. It turned out to be one of the most productive arguments we’ve ever had”.

With these new recordings, Imbibe are creating a lane of their own, a young, incredibly creative duo who summon up influences from the ‘yacht rock’ of the 80s, to more contemporary artists such as Phoenix & Broken Bells. With more releases already primed and UK shows to be soon announced, they’re certainly an act to keep a close eye on.
