We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of the legendary Phyllis Diller. Thomas had the incredible opportunity to meet her the day after our New Year's Eve concerts in Los Angeles this year.  One month later he traveled to Los Angeles to Phyllis' house and recorded Charlie Chaplin's "Smile" in her living room.  Here is that recording:

This track was created and intended to win the Music Innovation 2020 contest sponsored by Captain Plugins. It's a mixture of two genres; Ragtime and Reggae. 
 The ragtime song sampled here has an interesting history per Wikimedia.org: "A recording of Pleasant Moments, a Ragtime Waltz recorded on Piano Roll by Scott Joplin in April 1916, and thought lost until discovered in 2006. The recording is public domain, as it was originally made before 1923 in the USA."
 As a direct result of my experimentation and the serendipitous successful combination of reggae and ragtime music, I then was inspired to write the lyrics you can read along with the song as you listen:

 The Reggae Rag:

"Gather 'round I have a story to tell
  this song courtesy of H.G. Wells
  him time-travel me to stop, drop in
  on 1899 Scott Joplin.
  Him writing music, but his fingers sigh;
  him no can make de ragtime riddim fly.
  Poor Scott, him got no de frame of mind,
  to him I give some ganja; make him high!

  I mix de spliff with his American Shag,
  then him busy writing The Maple Leaf Rag
  my mission back in time is proven sweet success
  I bid farewell to Scott, I plot a course and press
  the forward lever on de time machine like a Rude Boy
  to catch up with H.G, and I save him from de Eloi
  and on our trip home, I pull out; deploy
  another spliff and then we listen to Joplin's joy!"

The Reggae Rag
