After months of digging for music that uses the sounds of insects, frogs, and birds, thinking about the Bosch painting, and discovering a massive trove of Jean C. Roché’s recordings at Dizonord in Paris, I’m ready to dig out my favorite David Toop, and the weirdest, most wonderful record I’ve ever bought at Clone: Pierre Bastien’s Insect Orchestra, released on Worm Records in 2012.

Cardboard Lamb Presents: The Garden of Earthly Delights

This long form sound work "Kinomat" resulted from a single cassette tape that I used to record snippets and parts from movies and documentaries. The extensive sound collection was than processed to build an immersive and introspective sonic narrative.

Released on 27th March 2023 as a part of Dystopian split series by independent Macedonian music label Élan Vital.

Radio Banda Larga presents this month's mix by Utkan Akcay, an Istanbul-based composer, producer, and DJ who is currently his academic career in composition and audio technology at Istanbul Bilgi University Music Department.

With seeking sound possibilities whether in composition or not, the overall approach of Utkan Akcay’s existence in sound can be characterized as instrumental or non-instrumental that lacks a defined structure or with a defined structure.

Born in Winnipeg, Canada, and raised in Seattle, Kerry Leimer began his musical journey in the mid 1970s, inspired by the post-hippy European innovations of bands like Can, Neu!, Faust and Cluster. He scoured pawnshops for cheap electronic recording equipment, and later multi-track tape machines and Moog synthesizers. It was this equipment, married with Leimer's own esoteric inspirations and lack of formal musical training, which lead to  his uncovering of otherworldly and unique sonic spaces.

Meadow Walk (Seagit Arc Remix)

Immersive love is a nostalgic tribute to the times of 2000s and the Netlabel scene. Back then independent musicians and music producers, used the internet to distribute their music without the intention of making a profit. They allowed other artists to use their music for free, which allowed them to express themselves without the constraints of the music industry. This passion for music-making spread to other musicians and listeners, leading to the formation of a network of labels and blogs that formed communities of individuals who created, shared, reviewed, and published the music of independent artists. However, the rise of social media and streaming platforms with algorithmic models led to a decrease in creative freedom and marked the end of this period.
