After a bit of a break from guest mixes due to work and a new addition to the family, SSS comes back strong this week with Subconscious, a founding member of the Bad Seed Creations Label, The Atlanta DJ Collective (ADJC) as well as Co-operator of Torch DNB, one of the longest running DNB nights in Atlanta. With his roots in 70's Funk and Soul and 80's Hip Hop, he carried those influences into electronic music becoming a staple of the Atlanta scene. We're honored to have him on the schedule this week with an exclusive session for the listeners. ABOUT ME
I made my way through the rave scene...
Growing up in Zürich's countryside, caught between Hip Hop and Techno, doing Graffiti on trains and playing Trance, in the early 90ies.
At 15 I started to DJ in our youth centre on two Technics MKII. I always watched „MTV Party Zone“, where the likes of SL2, Altern8 and The Prodigy were featured. When I heard DJ Hype doing the closure set at Energy 94 at Hallenstadion it just was the perfect mixture of all my musical tastes, the answer to all questions.
Records were hard to find then, so mainly Happy Breakbeat and Hardcore filled the box. As an up & coming DJ of the second rave generation I got to be a resident at the White Wolf Raves from 96 to 98 and lots of other events.
Around 98 I met Led Tampi, one of the titans of Switzerland's Jungle DJs and then became a part of Zürich’s legendary „Metropolitan Bass Scientists“ alongside Mad B, Crazee Bo, Max S and MC Riddimflrt.
MBS were the counterpart to Switzerland’s biggest and most influential crew, United Tribes from Berne. Sadly, both crews dissolved around the millennium but a new collective came out of it, The Engine with Lockee, Fine Style, Led Tampi, MC Fight and myself. Their events at Bierhübeli in Berne in the early 2000s are legendary. Drum & Bass really had its prime back then. There were many other crews like Score Inc, Blackout & RG Promotions, Mute, Tension State, FMI, JUR… and so many others!
After playing at basically all Swiss venues and raves of the era and in Czech Republic regularly, even at „Let it Roll 10“ I stepped back to focus on my job career. At this time technology for DJs changed from analog to digital, but I decided not to go on with CDJ’s and refused to make this step. I've never stopped listening to D&B, once it’s in your DNA, you can’t stop listening to it, as you probably know..

By the beginning of 2024 i‘ve received a booking for a reunion bash in Prague from my good old CZ-Mate Michal. A massive happening to me, i just had to be a part of this! Anyway, there were no Turntables at the club so i had to get with XDJ’s… So i am finally gone digital since early 24 ▶️⏹️↔️↕️🔄
