Harrison’s A-side revels in a deep pool of soft bubbling synth chords, moulded to the backdrop of tight rolling drum work and occasionally teasing the wider, heavier energies to be found on the flip.

Few artists today are more responsible for the recent resurgence of lo-fi house as a genre in dance music than Harrison Webber, better known as Harrison BDP. His instant classics such as “Decompression” and “It’s Foggy Outside,” along with the work of others, have helped lay down the foundation for a sound that’s low on frills but high on emotion through its superb utilization of classic techniques and poignant vocal sampling. It’s a formula that has shown itself to be well-appreciated by house-heads alike, earning his songs millions of plays on youtube channels around the globe in a relatively short amount of time.

In his latest release titled “Confusion Of Sound,” Mr. BDP fully attempts to explore the outer reaches of this genre by constructing an EP that contains two extremes. The A-side of the record lands on the soothing end of the spectrum, designed with the intent of relaxing the listener into a stable trance that’s marked by lush synth melodies and playful percussion. On the other hand, the B-side seems to be more tuned for the dancefloor, taking listeners on a cosmic journey of euphoric acid-house.

His song “The Flow” happens to fall on the A-side, and fans of Harrison BDP will instantly recognize it as the work of the Cardiff producer. From the length of the song (coming in at about 10 minutes) to the expertly selected quotes used to complement the track’s celestial feel, this tune embodies everything we’ve come to know Harrison BDP as at this early point in his young career. “The Flow” will surely fit right in with his already star-studded discography and help the producer win the ears of more music lovers in 2018.

FooR are a UK collective of producers, musicians, DJs, and MCs at the forefront of the current UK Garage revival. Championed by the likes of Radio 1’s MistaJam and DJ Target, they’ve so far released a handful of singles (including ‘Down’ feat. Karen Harding), and remixed the likes of Wretch32, Tinchy Stryder, Ghetts, and beyond. The four-piece have also become UK Garage’s fastest rising stars on the live circuit, with shows including Isle Of Wight Festival, EDC, Boardmasters, Ministry of Sound, and Mutiny
Hailing from Southampton, UK, FooR (fronted by Gavin Foord, Aki, MC Jukie & Tyrone) have all been friends for 15 years – literally since they were kids. Once they hit their teens they started making music together and then throwing parties, first locally, and then across the South Coast.

Their biggest show to date was arguably at last summer’s Isle Of Wight festival, where they were asked to play in The Big Top between fellow Saturday night headliners, Example and Zara Larsson. This edition of our MIXED BY/ series is brought to you by not one but two Bolting Bits regulars, New York's Baltra and London's Fede Lng. Both artists have had a breakout couple of years finding their places, either by design or by serendipity, as frontrunners in the lo-fi movement. Below, you'll find some extra info on each artist and an interview with Axe on Wax bossman, Fede Lng.

Fede Lng has carved out a coveted spot as both curator and creator in the dusty depths of London's music scene. Since their inception in 2014, Axe on Wax and its sub-labels have gone on to see releases from a who's who list of recent stars including Mall Grab, Chaos in The CBD, Trudge, Deejay Astral, and Jesse Bru. With a penchant for rough and raw tracks chock-full of equal parts grit, dust, and feeling, Lng has found himself in the middle of a musical movement that shows no signs of slowing down and continues to defy expectations.

Across the Atlantic, New York's Baltra has been not so quietly making a name for himself with great self-releases and stand out EPs on labels such as Lost Palms and Of Paradise, the Philidelphia-born artist's music has served as a gateway drug for many of lo-fi's biggest proponents. And while his aesthetic blends seamlessly into what we've come to expect from the scene, the emotions contained within the music easily transcend the genre or any doubts about its staying power.

After reaching 100k subscribers on YouTube, the channel Houseum cross over to the next step with the launch of their new label Houseum Records. Their first release ‘The Four J’s’ features four bumping house tropes from channel regulars https://soundcloud.com/bellairemusic, https://soundcloud.com/subjoi, https://soundcloud.com/gavinco and https://soundcloud.com/jesse-bru. This release represents the achievement of the work done on the channel by releasing four tracks with four differing, infectious vibes.

The A side begins with Bellaire’s ‘Oh’ which is a club driven house track with a catchy loop and sensual vocals built for summer dance floors. We continue the journey with ‘Show Yourself’ by the Australian Subjoi which is a rhythmic and soothing track, punctured by a pulsating sample. A groove that is as introspective as it is joyful.

On the B side, the young English Gavinco delivers a house driven number sprinkled with jazzy notes. Trumpet and piano punctuate the rhythm of the track. We end the trip with the mesmerizing ’Setup’ produced by Jesse Bru. One that exudes a certain melancholy. A hypnotic simplicity that warms the heart.
