This is the first part of a set of three mixes which is a tribute to EP1, where the night comes alive, and the beats never stop in the vibrant heart of Kings Cross.

Some 20 years ago, at the turn of the millennium, Sydney was world-famous for its 24-hour bars and epic dance parties. Sydney was the most lively city in the world where people queued 24/7 to get into clubs - before Nanny State laws closed 176 venues and destroyed its nightlife forever.

Tunnel Nightclub, open in the late '80s by Ibrahim, was accessible from a laneway and championed a 'female majority' policy - a breath of fresh air for women in the pre #MeToo era.

It was rebranded EP1 in the late nineties and early noughties, then Dragonfly from 2004-2010, before becoming Tunnel again and then closing for good as the owners threw up their hands in frustration. This mix is the second part of my tribute to EP1, arguably my favourite Sunday night during its era.

In the 1990s, Potts Point and Kings Cross were all about the big night out. When Sydney celebrated, this is where it happened. If the big night happened elsewhere, it was where you inevitably ended up in the wee hours of the morning. Most had disappeared by the 2010s when Sydney’s strict lockout laws made Kings Cross a less attractive destination for revellers. Many have since been redeveloped into residential apartments.

This "Memories Session" is the last mix in the trilogy set dedicated to EP1 Sundays, the best Sunday night in NSW.

The 'Memories' sessions finally lands at Sydney’s premier nightclub! Yes, there was a time when people queued, in long snaking lines, to get into DCM. The huge DCM site, located at the lower end of Oxford Street, was renowned for its superior sound system, professional lighting and acres of space for uninhibited dancing.

This mix is for the people who love ‘DCM’, who keep the memories alive. Its thanks to you all that this mix came together. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed mixing it 😊
