Hailing from Odessa, Ukraine, The Stoosie is a true music devotee, spending the better part of the past decade cultivating a deep love for the confluence of natural and synthetic sounds while producing, writing and mixing music for fellow Ukrainian artists. A self-taught drummer and keyboardist, he was never satisfied with providing background assistance though so the obvious next step was to strike out on his own as The Stoosie, a project that fits neatly at the intersection of a number of dancefloor-focused sounds without being too devout to any in particular.

Arriving on Los Angeles label Makehood, The Stoosie’s musical output comes into focus, a practice built around ineffable grooves and enigmatic melodies, built for dancefloors, but with a distinct songwriting voice. The Stoosie doesn’t make club tools by any means, although his bass-y productions are clearly ready to tear down floors the world over. With a three track debut coming on Makehood, years of behind the scenes work will come into focus and The Stoosie’s conscientious approach will enter the public eye.

The decision to strike out on his own was liberating for the Ukrainian artist and with the goal of approaching major themes, ranging from the history of electronic forms to the metaphysics of dance music itself, its clear that The Stoosie project is also a cathartic exercise.
