“Kroz dvadesetak godina kopanja za dobrom mi glazbom i stilskog i tehničkog evoluiranja, nakon bezbroj mixeva raznih žanrova i nastojanja da je svaki koliko toliko poseban i da nema previše stvari koje se ponavljaju, taman kada već neko vrijeme nisam imao inspiracije za složiti nešto novo, javila mi se Tena s upitom da napravim mix za TITRACIJU. To mi je dalo volje da se potrudim prokopati po skromnoj kolekciji, probrati 80-setak stvari, te posložiti glazbenu priču i uz jutarnju kavu iz prve snimiti mix na nxs2 setu uz pokoju slatku greškicu. Kombinacija krasnih cinematičnih numera i finih stvari u 4/4 ritmu začinjenih svačim uhu ugodnim me veseli i nadam se da će nekom uljepšati pokoji intimni trenutak.”

For Sinchi & Friends 65, Italian maestro @Rodion_Gomma joins us. The classical trained DJ / producer now presides in Mexico but can still be found touring all over the world and has a regular flow of both original work and remixes. Get to know the man behind the music below. On the mix in his own words  'This mix features a selection of artists I love and respect, talented friends who I’m lucky to know and support. I come from classical music background and I tend to get bored quite easily with straight up club music. So, even though I dislike the term, my selections have always been quite 'eclectic'.

1) Who are you?

I’m Rodion, real name Edoardo. I’m from Rome, Italy. I started with music quite early: I was 5 when I took my first piano lessons. I released my first EP and album in 2006 (“Atala ride” and “Romantic Jet Dance”) on Gomma records and I have been around since then. I am also half of the Alien Alien duo, together with Hugo Sanchez, who I also run the Roccodisco label. I’m a food and cooking lover. Being Italian I studied at my fundamentalist grandma’s school: fuck Masterchef, fuck pineapple pizza.

2) What have been your highlights from the last 12 months?

The best thing that happened to me in the last 12 months was moving from Berlin to Mexico City. I feel really at home in Mexico: I love the sun, the food and the kindness of the people around me. I work with lots of talented musicians here, who also happen to be among my best mates.

3) What do you have lined up for the coming year?

I am currently working with my neighbour and awesome Mexican producer Mijo: we set up a new project called Idolos Futuros and we are playing it live in Mexico and Latin America. No laptop shit, only keys and machines. I love to play live and I find it generally speaking more rewarding than Djing. We are booked at the massive Tropico Festival in Acapulco in December which I'm really looking forward to. Then I guess Rodion will take a small break: I’m one of the very few dinosaur survivors of the early 2k scene and I realize nowadays people focus mostly on what they consider “new” and “hype”. So I am working on my new club music solo project, Cristiano Roberto, and on some much less club focused music. I love classical piano and synth sounds, so I don’t want to waste my entire life focusing on dance music.

The recording of my debut at Good Room, club that has been closest to my heart in past few years. 
I love playing opening sets, it allows me to play music that I personally like the most, warm, very deep and multi-layered, melancholic, in moments a bit weird but just enough to keep people that are arriving wondering what's next.  
Expect fabulous tracks by some of the producers that I look up to such as map.ache, Lawrence, Ripperton, Francis Harris, Birds Ov Paradise, Leafar Legov, Kuniyuki, Joakim, Davis and Iron Curtis to name a few.

Iro Aka are Carles Rocamora & David Iriarte who met back in years in Barcelona. They were joined through a love of DJing and a passion for all forms of music. 
When we talk about Barcelona, we talk about tapas, architecture, flamenco and electronic music. In recent years, Barcelona has become one of the leading cities in the electronic music industry taking a huge number of festivals and gigs from the best DJs and musicians of the planet. Iro Aka is clear product of fusion of cultures in this wonderful city. The guys are producing (soon they will release their first EP "Futur" alongside such cool men as are TAPAN and Anatolian Weapons, in my label Elephant Gait Music and which is already supported by Vladimir Ivkovic, Lena Willikens, Alexis Le Tan, Odopt, MR TC and some more finest figures of the scene) they are playing (paid attention people like Javi Redondo, Luis Costa and Playground Records djs in the name of few) and they are collecting music (this mix is clear evidence of this).
I was waiting for so long for this moment and now im very much happy to give a warm welcome to this very talented duo in the 44,100Hz Social Club.

Two years in the making, Future Ruins, TOM And His Computer’s debut album, will be released on Trentemøller’s In My Room label on October 16th. 

As a 20 year veteran of the Copenhagen music scene, Thomas Bertelsen has been releasing music under the sobriquet of TOM And His Computer for five years, merging the newest technologies with the old, while squeezing fresh sounds out of equipment that’s not only obsolete, sometimes it’s barely functioning at all.

“I switch back and forth between the digital and the analog worlds. I’ll utilize old guitar pedals as well as the newest software,” says Thomas Bertelsen, producer behind TOM And His Computer. “It’s never about the gear, though, but rather finding that one little sound that can trigger an idea for an entire track.”

As a teenager he explored the limits of cassette tape machines, eventually assembling a small arsenal of classic noisemakers, ultimately releasing records from the music lab of his dreams. Better yet, he has been able to perform it live, headlining, as well as supporting Massive Attack, and Trentemøller on his European and North American tours.

Future Ruins was also co-produced and mixed by Trentemøller. While previous offerings have taken listeners to the outer boundaries of what can be considered “electronic music,” including nods to dark wave, dream pop, krautrock and modern psych rock, Future Ruins presents those influences in a new way and represents a great leap forward for the Copenhagen based producer.

As with the Playing In The Night EP, Future Ruins once again features vocalist Roxy Jules, this time showcasing the more complex aspects of her talents on four tracks. “It’s the third time Roxy Jules and I have worked together. This time I tried to bring forward the more vulnerable and fragile textures in her voice. It has that dark, northern, Scandinavian  coolness to it, combined with a little optimism, and even a hidden smile comes through. I also explored alternative ways of arranging the songs. I was less worried about finding the obvious chorus and focused more on experimenting with structure.”

The result is a genre-less collection of songs showcasing TOM’s obsession with propelling sounds of the past into the present, and future, combining noise and edginess with his “commitment to fresh ideas with a clear sense of melodies,” according to Clash Magazine. “My tastes are eclectic and I like to flirt with many different sub genres,” says TOM. “The aim was to combine various styles while trying to maintain a common denominator,” which committing to a full-length offered as an opportunity. 

Soundtracks have been a major source of inspiration. “I also use photos, or even the first chapter in a book to generate ideas. They can trigger certain emotions, and bring different feelings to the surface. The challenge is translating that into a recording on a computer workstation, but they offer a great starting point. For this album I’ve used anything from pictures of Ethiopian elephants in the desert, to ancient Mayan statues, or ‘80s Serbian brutalist architecture to get me going.”

As a result, Future Ruins displays many treasures and traits along its arc when listened to in its entirety.
