Never confined to one solitary genre, Toolroom Records latest release expands the diverse range of styles the imprint continues to push. Historical house cut ‘Do You Want Me Baby’ is brought back to life with an eclectic set of remixes alongside Victor Simonelli’s original Cloud 9 piece, sounding as fresh today as when originally conceived.

Celebrated as leading lights in UK house, London-based duo Dusky are first to deliver. Known for a melting-pot sound fused by a key drive to compose deep and soulful electronic music, the duo’s take on ‘Do You Want Me Baby’ slots perfectly into these eclectic ideals; a warm serving of bass-driven house with depth, the result. With Dusky support continually escalating from DJs as diverse as Pete Tong, Jamie Jones, Toddla T, Boddika, Sasha & beyond, this remix is cemented already as a future classic.

Remixing from the opposite end of the musical spectrum, legendary drum and bass producers Total Science return to Toolroom fresh from the Radio 1 playlisted ‘Piano Funk’. An intelligent sub heavy liquid remix that pays homage to old school DnB, the result mirrors the heritage that the original track holds in house circles. Plus with Total Science’s Toolroom support already including Bailey, DJ Marky, Friction and Mistajam, this re-lick holds promise to once more cause waves with the bass scene elite.

Finally, no remixes are ever possible without a fantastic source, and so it is Toolroom’s privilege to offer a fresh master of Simonelli’s US house classic for 2012. Mike Delinquent Project follows hot on the heels of previous singles "Step In The Dance" and "Party's Over Here", with another heavy hitting collaboration in the form of "Mama Said". The new single features long-time collaborator KCAT (pronounced as ’Cat’) plus man of the moment Mikill Pane!

"Mama Said" retains elements of the UK Garage sound that Mike's best known for and combines a bouncy bassline with rolling breakbeat-driven beats, also with hint of dub influence in there too. KCAT's impressive story-telling vocal floats perfectly over Mike's beats, whilst Mikill Pane's unique flow and engaging lyrics lament the experiences of being a young tearaway, and knowing the value of parental advice.

Mikill Pane is fast becoming the nation’s favourite modern hip-hop artist and is no stranger to the limelight. His EP earlier this year saw him collaborating with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Example and Paloma Faith, whilst his current 'Dirty Rider' EP via Mercury Records sees him team up with Rizzle Kicks, as well as lead single Dirty Rider being supported extensively by the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Huw Stephens and Mistajam on Radio 1.  Fresh off the back of the Festival season this year, where he headlined the BBC Introducing stage at Reading & Leeds Festival, he jumped straight back onstage to join Rizzle Kicks on their UK Tour.

North London singer-song writer KCAT is currently touring venues in the UK, particularly the North Of England as its thriving house and bass scene not only demands her previous UK Top 20 hit ’My Destiny’ but new material also. KCAT continues to pick up impressive specialist radio plays as she approaches 2013.

Our absolutely huge remix package kicks off with a supercharged big room mix from The Wideboys, whose Electro House stylings take things in a more commercial dance floor direction with a massive breakdown that pushes it into forward thinking territory.

Major Look raise the bpms for a drumstep rework that embraces the vocals (and even add some of their own), yet keep the bass dirty and driving! Zed Bias is back on remix duties, this time in Maddslinky mode for a 4x4 deep groover for early doors or late night heads down sets. Compound One strips things back vocally and keeps the bassline low for his take on "Mama Said", turning in an atmospheric darker house vibe.

Heads up all northern crew, Chris Gresswell in partnership with Mike Delinquent brings his bassline house stylings to the package, showing maximum respect for KCAT and Mikill's vocals, but keeping the groove dirty and driving.

For the bloggers and leftfield electronica fans Thefft lends his quirky beats and FX on a truly original treatment.
