We’d like to thank you all for another amazing year. A big highlight for us this year was the pop-up store we put together with Inch by Inch Record Store at Amsterdam’s Vrij Paleis for ADE 2023. Ivan Smagghe is stepping up to take over Tapes #142. Known for his ability to play music like a raw conduit between famously obscure records whilst never losing sight of the dancefloor’s strobe soaked bodies - injecting something of himself seamlessly into the mix along the way. 

His genre defying/defining production from Black Strobe, It’s A Fine Line, Smagghe & Cross and now Ivan & Johnny has connected him to and garnered the praise from the likes of Craig Richards, Vladimir Ivkovic, Paranoid London, Solar and of course, his long time friend Andrew Weatherall - all fellow crusaders in the fight to prove that electronic music is so much more than a one dimensional soundtrack for a night on the lash, and so much more than an Instagram account.

Origins Tapes 142 - Ivan Smagghe

Tosi is a Tokyo-based DJ known for energetic, genre-blending sets that weave together house, disco, cosmic, balearic, italo disco, synth pop, and all-mix styles. In 2005, he co-founded the collective and label Timothy Really, becoming an integral part of the local scene. More recently, he’s been releasing hidden gem Re-Edits under the name C.O.M.P.A.S. alongside fellow collective member Sisi that have been championed by DJs across Japan and beyond.

Tosiは東京出身のDJ 。90年代後半から都内クラブシーンでキャリアを積み、ハウス、ディスコ、コズミック、バレアリック、イタロ・ディスコ、シンセポップを縦横無尽に織り交ぜる独自のグルーヴでフロアを魅了してきた。2005年にはコレクティブ兼レーベル「Timothy Really」を共同設立し、シーンの中核に関わる。近年は同郷のSisiとともにC.O.M.P.A.S.名義でリエディットトラックをリリースし、国内外のDJからサポートを受けている。

We’re thrilled to share the next Planet Paradigm Podcast, delivered by Dresden. Recorded live at Planet Paradigm 2025, where they played the Forest Stage.
