Marma Boog releases ‘Hotel Palais’ EP on Pond Life Records; a hot single with 3 artists on remix duties. 

A1 (Original Mix) - Marma combines field recordings from skaters in Hyde Park (Leeds) and inspiration from 80s French pop and fuses them to form a sexy beast. 

A2 - Snorkel Records boss Olefonken produced an elegant Scandinavian slowmo euphoric remix. 

B1 - Amsterdam’s local hero Monty DJ has taken the time and tempo skyward with a 10 minute rhythmical journey of raw drums and metallic vocal sampling with nods to the “Prince of Soul.” 

B2 - Remix from rising star Retromigration. A broken beat laced with solos of Flute and keys.

PREMIERE: Marma Boog- Hotel Palais (Retromigration Remix)

Steppin’ out with their first VA release since the label’s inception in 1995, Worldship Music follows up the release of underground sensation Roberta’s The Brooklyn Ave Sessions with Herald Traccs Vol. 1. The record is a (mostly) LA based affair, starting with Jam’s Theme, a clever flip of a classic from veteran producer and former Underground Resistance member Santiago Salazar. Next up is En Echo, a deep and dubby affair from Echo Park’s Kelvin K, a seminal figure in SF’s early 00’s house scene. Label owners Teflon Dons open the B side with a tough, deep garage cut that would have likely set the UK garage scene on fire. Unfinished since '98, the Dons thankfully revisited this lost classic for some finishing touches. Rounding out the release is the mysterious Westcoast Goddess, whose First Tear emotes a melancholy beauty reminiscent of Hanna’s early work. Heading strong into their 26th year, underground house music is here to stay with Worldship. Look out for volume 2, the hunger continues…

Musician, producer and DJ, Tommy ‘Turbojazz’ Garofalo, delivers the full spectrum in this incredibly well put together effort. Featuring a host of talent like Los Angeles MC Dave Giles II, (featured on recent Honey Dijon EP and Beyonce’s album Cosy), UK House don Sean McCabe who delivers the highly credible, ‘In Love Again’ with Detroit (Mahogani Music) vocalist Nikki O. There are performances from vocalists Sara Vanderwert -who Turbojazz met while she was busking in Puglia - and Arya, with both female vocals reaching up to the roof and touching the souls of listeners. Celebrating the sonics and genres that have shaped his sound, this album glides through house, nu-beat-jazz, hip house and soul. If there is one record you buy this month, make it this one.

‘Be Someone’ is the first single to be taken from Dam-based don Retromigration’s debut album. Fourteen expertly executed tracks that range from hazy beats and jazz-tinged broken rhythms to club-ready groovers, deep excursions, soulful footwork and even some jungle energy. A flavour for every occasion and damn it tastes good.

With an envious run of releases on the likes of Handy, Healthy Scratch, wewillalwaysbealovesong and WOLF in a relatively short space – Retormigration is a hot property and it’s clear to see why. We are confident this album will be his breakthrough release, solidifying his status on the scene. There is already that tell-tale ripple of anticipation that lets you know the audience is primed, and with the quality of this album, it’s only a matter of time.

‘Be Someone’ features Bezzix and here the duo masterfully blend shuffling, latin percussion, strings, sax, piano, double bass and vocals. It’s a soulful, jazzy, melodic blend of the organic and electronic, culminating in an off-kilter deep house jam, full of Retromigration's trademark swagger. Fans of Masters At Work, Kerri Chandler, Ron Trent, et al will be into this one.
