After a period of introspective growth and sonic refinement, Greek sound designer and producer AYLN emerges from the ether with a bold new self-released EP, From the Source. Berlin-based AYLN makes a powerful return with a trilogy of trance-tinged techno cuts that nod to the roots of the genre while charting a fresh, personal journey forward.

The EP's opener and title track, From the Source, sets the tone with pulsing rhythms, ominous sound design, and a deep sense of propulsion, a love letter to the originators of techno and the foundational ethos of unity, optimism, futurism, and escape. Following up, To the Source dives deeper into introspective territory, fusing new school sound design with old school spirit for a cathartic, late-night journey. Rounding out the release is the Teleport Edit, a reimagined version of the title track designed to launch dancefloors into orbit.

Having previously released on the NOUS label, AYLN used the time since their last official release in 2022 to hone a sound unbound by trends or expectations. The result is a fearless EP that channels both nostalgia and innovation.

The artwork, inspired by '90s trance cover aesthetics, visually echoes the record’s themes: vivid, euphoric, and timeless.

Conceived and brought to life in close collaboration with guest curator Roberto Semeraro (Pearl River Sound), this series was born from the resonant partnership forged during the creation of Roberto's The Amen Experience EP, a period marked by extensive dialogues that delved deeply not only into the sonic landscape of Pearl River Sound but also into the fundamental tenets we recognized as vital within the realm of avant-garde electronic music.

For Alessandro Gramaccioni, "Sleek Vibra" marks the inception of a complex and profound process, representing a conscious endeavor to understand the "tangle." It's about approaching and comprehending the intricate emotional knot, discerning its junctures, folds, and the very ligaments that constitute it. Each track on the album embodies a different vantage point, a strenuous attempt to connect with something that has been allowed to become overly complicated, knotted, and self-referential for too long. Consequently, the album's development navigates these emotional filaments, chronologically tracing the unfolding of the tangle.

Lemon Schaden, a dedicated member of the ÖND collective based in Rennes, is known for blending delicate house textures with aggressive hardcore rhythms. His productions balance contrasting energies, creating a dynamic yet cohesive sound. Soon to arrive via the French imprint Armen Crew, his latest parcel, “April Flowers,” showcases four originals that further explore this signature style. The release demonstrates his ability to merge genres fluidly, offering listeners a journey through nuanced electronic landscapes.

Premiered here, the title track exemplifies Schaden’s skill in crafting intricate IDM-inspired compositions. Breakbeat patterns intertwine with deep basslines, while fragmented vocal snippets and warped effects add layers of tension. The result is playful yet ominous, a piece that dances between lightness and intensity. With this EP, Schaden continues to refine his approach, delivering a compelling mix of melody and grit that lingers in the mind.

The story of Konsistent’s connection to Electric Shapes began thanks to a mutual friend—Nikita—who introduced us. That introduction led to a meeting at the Digital Tsunami festival, where hours of inspiring conversations revealed a shared vision and passion for underground music.

Konsistent quickly became one of the first well-established artists to support what we were doing. He recorded an early episode for the Electric Shapes podcast series, giving the project a major boost in its formative days. More than just a guest, he played a key role in shaping the label’s direction.

In fact, Konsistent was the one who pushed us to take the leap from SoundCloud-only releases to launching a proper label on Bandcamp. Without that encouragement, Electric Shapes might have remained just a podcast platform.

He contributed to our very first compilation, returned for the fourth edition, and has once again joined us for the latest release—marking an ongoing creative relationship that’s become part of our core story.

Outside of Electric Shapes, Konsistent’s music has landed on some of the most respected underground labels: Lio Press, Eine Welt, Space Ritual, Sounds of Ogigia, Kalahari Oyster Cult, Macadam Mambo, and brokntoys. His sound—raw, hypnotic, and deeply textured—resonates across genres and borders.

His role in Electric Shapes goes far beyond collaboration. Konsistent helped us believe in the potential of this project—and he’s been helping shape it ever since.
