'Celestian Asterism' is the new record from HearThug on Faceless, and Maas has given it a tasty reworking. The tense track builds with a rich, hypnotic klaxon screaming through the middle, giving way to some contemplative 'handsintheair' trance keys before strapping back towards the rolling industrial trip.

The Anjunadeep Edition 69 With Solee

Existentially, this mix is a meditation on mortality, a fear of death (own and dear ones) and simultaneously a latent desire to shortcut the earthly path. A kind of aural Maranasati, just prettier and less scary, or a reading from Seneca’s letters, but non-verbal and less moralizing. Kicking off with the sound of clay burial urns captured by Simon Whetham, it is centered around Sufjan Stevens’ lament to his late mother, which opens the gates of an "afterlife" that begins with a narrative from a Russian animation about seeing ﻿[﻿signs and﻿]﻿ wonders in mundanity and finding a waltz pattern in flashing street lights, followed by a limbo of Melanie De Biasio’s consolation to her own mother, and rounded off by a succession of heavenly piano music dissolving in the sounds of Latvian nature.

We are all fireflies, waltzing our way between two eternities. Do you know how to waltz?

The ever-impressive Mina Recordings is back this December with a digital-only release from Sasse, ‘Ekko Massala’ including a heavy hitting remix from label boss Masaya. 

Since it’s formation in 2008 the small & perfectly formed label has delivered a string of successful releases in the realms of elegant house and techno. At the helm of Mina is swiss-based producer and selector Claudia Ayala who has been making waves with a series of impressive releases on labels such as NUM, Perspectiv and of course her own imprint Mina. The multi-talented producer and label head can boast an impressive roster featuring a plethora of talent with names like Ripperton, Nhar, Petar Dundov and Sabota & Grenier. 

For this EP Claudia has invited the prolific production abilities of Sasse. The Moodmusic man utilises pulsating bass, shifting drums and brooding synths to map out an hypnotic and dynamic groove for his original ‘Ekko Massala’. On remix duty Masaya dishes up an expansive techno cut layered over lush melodies, driving baselines and captivating rhythms to wrap up the EP in powerful form.

One can literally feel Bellville after an impressive day and an equally exciting night on a trip closing his eyes and feeling that sound in his chest. And that’s exactly how it went: two tracks "Hanoi" and "Halong Bay" incurred while travelling Vietnam. Because on a trip the time is totally yours and freedom is all around you, smooth, tight and deeply. The pulsating rhythm of “Hanoi” pushes into with a deep, dark, smooth and quiet power and all 'the whirring, buzzing NOISE the town reflect on this soil. The whole feeling is like: “bring the city to shake when darkness surrounds you”.

Sasse’s remix of "Hanoi" raises the pace a little and gives the song a total of a little more transparent synths, but it tunes the baseline even one floor down and plays the melody in more vast organized facets.

I wrote these tracks around 2 years ago, at the time my thought process was based around writing something that gave a nod of appreciation to the real pioneers of Deep House. Artists like Rick Wade, Steve O Sullivan, Mood II Swing, Delano Smith & Brothers Vibe who I recognise as people who have influenced my sound as well as the sound its self.

Cera Alba Ft Donnie Ozone - Departure Lounge (Sasse Remix) - Out Now

Only five releases away from the 100th, Rodriguez Jr. delivers on the 095 with a generous 4-track, digital only edition titled "Muppet Anthem".

The self-titled number makes up the first track on the EP with a pleasant array of upbeat house-party elements and groovy vocals making this piece of work totally dance-floor worthy in the heat of the summer.

Seething down to the second track, "Ocean Drive" takes it down a notch by starting the track with exotic and tropical elements as it progresses into a high peak of faster beats and steady keyboard strikes. Its a number that will leave your feet grounded as your swaying shoulders and bobbing head lead the dance.

"Satellite" comprises the third number an emotional hymn bursting with soulful vocals and periodic tambourine jingles and jangles. Enjoy this eye closer preferably with your head back and arms reaching towards the sky.

Closing out the set is "Palo Alto", a high tempo number with various calculated beats one setting off the next. Crying vocals wrapped in multi-faceted elements will leave even your goosebumps dancing.

The French producer/DJ has a stupendous track record with mobilee and its sister label, Leena. In 2011 he released his very first album titled "Bittersweet" on the mobilee imprint. The summer of 2012 has seen weekly gigs throughout Europes favorite beach bars and waterfront clubs with Rodriguez Jr.
