This mix was written in Melbourne’s first lockdown, during the winter of 2020.
It was such an uncertain time for pretty much everyone on the planet. 
Not knowing when we could experience music together again or travel the world again (both of which keep me breathing), I decided to retreat into the only certainty I could find, my music.
I put this set together in that isolation, a solo pursuit I used to express what I was feeling throughout that winter.
Looking back now, having just come through the other side of the worlds longest lockdown, this mix is still all I have to say about the past 18 months.

Set to build on Afterlife’s mesmerizing club concept that’s striking visual and musical identity has so far showcased at Off Sonar, ADE and Ibiza for a 13-week residency at Space, brand curator’s Tale Of Us have now added an extra dimension to its forward-thinking offering with a podcast series named ‘Afterlife Voyage’. 

Launching with a rare 2 hrs mix from Tale Of Us themselves, Afterlife Voyage 001 provides a unique insight into the duo’s ‘realm of consciousness’ and features a range of unreleased tracks and upcoming Afterlife releases. With names from the Afterlife record label also confirmed to contribute to this latest musical journey – their names yet to be revealed – the launch of the podcast series further emphasizes Tale Of Us’ growing dominance within the global club scene and reiterates Afterlife’s 360 degree exploration of music and the arts. 

Venturing to London this Friday 11th and Saturday 12th November for its UK debut, Afterlife will then head to in Miami for Art Basel on Saturday 3rd December for an engaging takeover that sees Marcel Dettmann and Recondite join proceedings.

Young, talented and authentic Antigone belongs to this new, Parisian generation of DJs and producers at the vanguard of French techno. He always remains focused on the emotions and the atmosphere either he mixes or produces. His music has been released on great labels such as Token, Taapion, Soma Records, Indigo Aera and more. On this mix, he dives deeper into his record collection by bringing a dark ambience from the very beginning of his set, while ending up with some mind-bending textures.

Dash from Duna has a passion for different experimental genres and her music could be described as a deep trip through the jungle. Last but not least, her ambient sets are meditative and the influence of Tibetan Buddhism is evident.

She offers us an hour of meditative music, which acts as the soundtrack of awakening and peace of mind, mixing traditional music and evasive ambient soundscapes. A deep trip to the higher state of consciousness.

Italian DJ and electronic music producer born in 1987 in Sardinia, based in Berlin. Label owner of 012.

Claudio PRC is an Italian deep techno specialist who takes cues from avant-garde and ambient music as well as the abyssal echoes of early hypnotic acid and dub. He’s been active as a DJ and producer since 2006 and released his records mainly on Prologue Music, Semantica Records and TGP, of which he is co-founder. From 2018 Claudio is resident DJ in one of Prague’s most valued clubs, Ankali, where he curates the Volumi Dinamici night. In 2020 he founded 012, a new platform dedicated to art and sound research.

One of Seis Records main artists, he has been playing for more than 4 years, He began his career as a professional dj in Decibel Academy (Intelligent Division) in Medellin, Colombia. His sound goes from the deepest to the most hypnotic and mental. Sailing through sub-genres like ambient, neo tribal and down tempo. Lopar seeks to immerse the listener in a vortex which makes him travel around Space & Time.
His identifiable taste and great selection had given him the pleasure to perform along side re known international artists like Anthony Linell, Etapp Kyle and Alfredo Mazzilli.
All this trajectory gave him the opportunity to perform in clubs like Club 1984 in Medellin, Colombia and also at Seis Bar in Manizales, Colombia.

Paula Koski has carved out a niche for herself with a multifaceted sound that ranges from ambient to experimental to richly layered, dark, hypnotic and mental techno. The sense of aesthetics and composition remains throughout Black Wave podcast no. 033 from Paula Koski.

New dawn erupts with all but just a gentle kiss of a rising sun. Observed by the ancestors this ritual of sorts, an infinite exchange between night and day is just the same as it always were. A calling to focus inward, on the island that you are. Alone in the vast ocean with waves crushing in perfect sync with an esoteric chant. Mo’ai is silently watching over, from past lives to the present ones, with the spirit world not far behind.

Lindsey Wang, also known as Polygonia, is a versatile art and music project based in Munich, Germany. Her preceding intensive and long practice playing several instruments as well as the experiences with other art forms, inspired the artist to translate her understanding of rhythm, composition and experimentalism into the digital musical language. She creates mystic, deep and experimental soundscapes with acoustic elements in it.
Together with Dycide and MTRL she founded the Ambient and DeepTechno Label IO.

A new season begins with a warm welcome to Joachim Spieth, founder of the Affin label. A true veteran of the scene, Joachim's first release dates back 1999 via Kompakt, and his own label narrates an impressive and storied history from 2007 onward. Recent years have seen quite the community grow around Affin's beloved output of ambient and techno, including recent stellar works from Einox and Toki Fuko, and last month's beautiful "Ousia" LP from Joachim himself.

This mix is blanketed by a calm, snow-bound serenity yet its nature is far from laid-back. As ethereal as it is energetic, this mix drives forth the clarity of Joachim's vision — a brisk inhale of the coming storm, an idyllic wind lifting us into the gale. Thanks Joachim!
