IV was made by the Aedi network in December 2020 as an experiment in creative minimalism.

Each track was made using only four audio channels with one sound source each. 24 contributions were submitted and anonymously voted down to 6 by the over 200 producers on the label.

The rules were:

" Your project should only have four channels with one sound source each.

- Return tracks do not count as a channel.
- Group buses do not count as a channel.
- Parallel processing is allowed.
- Drum & Instrument Racks are > not < allowed.
- Effects Racks are allowed.
- Outboard gear is permitted as long as you use only four sounds in total.

Example: kick, snare, hat, and tom from a 909 count as four sounds."

Pure Space returns with our final release of 2022, delivered by none other than Zara - a warm light shining from Naarm (Melbourne, Australia).

Crafted in the midst of Australia’s last summer, these tracks capture the blissful and euphoric feeling of warm weather and the potential it brings…

Starting on an ambient note and progressing to drum & bass, the release seeks to take listeners on a transcendental journey to a freaky realm.

We start with Pirr, a track representative of dawn and the new beginnings it brings. It’s an eerie, yet anticipatory feeling lingers in the air as the rising sun diminishes the darkness and reveals the beauty of the landscape. Soft kicks coupled with bird song gently grasp the attention, effortlessly drawing you into the release.

Guitar and reverb drums define the second track, Idyll. Switching the mood to melancholia where the track meanders around floaty vocals creating a gentle fluidity throughout.

Entering the DnB realm, Quixotic combines driving hi-hats, wubs, bass to instigate movement. The floating female vocals carry you through the track guiding you on what feels like a utopian dream.

Synthesised drums are combined with heavy bass, arps and breaks to represent the peak of the journey. A chaotic, albeit warm track with and trippy moments in time.

As the sun sets once again, the arc of the journey ends on acid synths, arps, claps and hi hats on Elysium. Transporting the listener into a sleep, a moment of peace or back down to earth.

With great delight, we welcome to our premiere section Slak's newest track Under Control, from Lab's upcoming Patience EP. This shared release with Datafive will officially be in stores in vinyl and digital format on March 1st, while it is already available for pre-purchase via the label's Bandcamp. The track, which consists of hyped-up, prancing beats with futuristically groovy drives, dunks and scours the veins of the UK's broken-techno golden currents. Urban, metropolitan vibrations carve an upbeat path to a suburban warehouse, promising a low-light dancefloor to make oneself feel at "home". Once reaching that destination, the stylized, darkened patterns and fissuring breaks conjoin in a continuous, mild, and dance-oriented loop for some rewardingly expressive moments behind the big garage doors.

MNMT Premiere: Slak - Under Control [Lab Music]

On its fifth Various Artists EP, On Board Music welcomes the prolific, techno-meets-drum & bass artist ASC for a weighty, stepping collaboration with Semblance. Nuversion contributes a groovy dub-influenced cut that will slide easily into both techno and house sets. On the B-side, the inimitable Polygonia displays her delicate, melodic touch with the sublime "Veluo," before Morphing Territories closes out the record with a pitch-black modular techno roller. All together, Point E is a well-rounded record which does justice to the range and quality of sounds that On Board has been pushing since 2015.
