Taku Hirayama has cultivated a wide range of music selection with many chances of musical meeting across the globe in past years. Leaving the shores of southern Japan, Taku relocated himself to Hong Kong over a decade ago. There he launched his own platform "Junktion”, a venture for inviting credible names in the industry and like-minded artists, also exposing hidden talents to global audience.
Gained experience and expertise in the booth with countless hours while touring all over Asia and Europe, Taku crafted certain DJ skills and developed his signature trippy groove. Honing a sound that spreads smoothly and extensively, bending it into a linear, forward pushing energy, leaving genres and perceptions of time behind. His sets turn the dancefloor into a meditative or mind-bending experiment, dip dancers in sound and conclude the story with a hope at the end of the night.

A producer with 20 years of experience perfecting his craft, we’re excited to welcome Ramon Tapia to Drumcode for his debut EP.

The artist previously contributed a pair of cuts to the A-Sides series in recent years with ‘Sonic Therapy’ and Drum Control’, while also playing the Drumcode stage at Tomorrowland in 2019. Elsewhere he’s dropped heat on Truesoul, led by the crisp groover ‘Manipulate’. His ascension to Drumcode for his first full-fledged solo EP release is richly deserved.  

As with so many during the past year, Tapia’s taken his studio work in colourful and interesting directions. ‘The Future of Mankind’ is a multi-faceted beast. The title track is a straight-up weapon, driven by an ascendent riff that’s energetic and hopeful in equal doses. ‘Song of Sirens’ sees ambient pads and rolling percussion combine for a quality cut every DJ needs. ‘Screwdriver’ does what it promises on the tin; guttural and textured, it’s a necessary transitional tool for every techno set. ‘Hold On’ is the kind of emotion charged dance music that’ll make us go collectively weak at the knees when raving returns. We’re already excited to hear it rinsed at Drumcode Festival in Malta this September, when Tapia joins the party.

AF Premiere: Esteban Miranda - 30 Voces[NODE Recordings][OUT!!27.03.24]

"Blatant Case" is almost a B side - if you know what B side is - but how the world and dancefloors resonates on sorrowful and dark music we agreed on to include, and to be honest is a great one by @igor_bartyuk. The door opening horror part is our favorite, can feel the tension and see trouble with our third eye after entering the room.

Polymath continues on it’s thematic journey, this time touching on the concept of ‘Decay’. Leading the troupe is renowned duo Digitaria. Their piece relies on a hypnotic, chugging bass-line and melodic leads to reveal their thoughts on the theme. The lead synth plays with decay and sustain parameters to reinforce the idea, and a suspenseful break adds to the compelling mood.

Polymath head Third Son, and Sincopat’s Darlyn Vlys, collaborate for the first time to bring us a heads down, melancholic affair, with a clear message. The words “The end is the same for everyone one”, points towards the idea of death, emphasising the theme.

Newcomer Ańii, makes her Polymath debut in style. A relentless bass-line coupled with dark atmospheres makes this one for the later nights. Arpeggiated chords enter the arrangement during a break before once again being pushed out by the powerful low end.
