Whispers of the Valley is a three-part opus, highlighting the talent of emerging and established artists alike, including a remix by Luigi Tozzi. The project came to life with a field recording sample bank gathered during a workshop at La Vallée Electrique 2022, from which we asked producers to compose a unique track using at least one sample.

Part 1:
The valley is quiet and silent, only disturbed by the light whispering of the wind in the trees. The sounds are soft and soothing, mixing rhythmic notes and murmuring voices. The melodies envelop the tranquil landscape and invite to a meditative walk.

Sunlight streams through the leaves, creating shifting shadows on the valley floor. The songs of the bees add to the natural melody and complete the calm and peaceful landscape. The golden hour approaches…

The new EP "Depo" by Toki Fuko, released on the South Korean label Oslated, is an exciting musical project consisting of five variations of the track. The idea of creating an original ambient version of the track originated from an interactive video installation at the RZD Museum in St. Petersburg.

After the release of this video, Toki Fuko had new ideas for other variations of the track. As a result, the EP became a collection of diverse interpretations and experiments around the original track.

This album immerses the listener in the depths of electronic music, creating an atmosphere that allows one to fully enjoy the sound textures and emotional experiences that permeate each variation of the track.

"Depo" is a complete immersion into the atmosphere of a sound landscape, allowing the listener to discover new facets of sound art and delve into the unique world of Toki Fuko.

Echoes From Two Worlds 

Since I started with field recordings, I’ve been fascinated by the contrast between two completely different soundscapes: natural and human-generated ones.

At the beginning of the process, I was pretty sure to record and use only natural sounds, because, you know, for me, it’s a kind of ritual when I need to be detached from the day-to-day life. I want to be completely immersed in a natural environment to understand which type of sound I could use during the production process with the field recordings I’m capturing.

This time, something different clicked in.

I was walking in the city centre of my hometown just doing some basic commissions. At a certain point 3 “sound scenes” captured my attention: a busker, some church bells and a guy selling fruits in a market.

From normal sound perceptions, you usually don’t pay attention to this kind of day-to-day situation, but here, something was, I don’t know, connected.

Everything was perfectly aligned and in tune. I found these 3 sounds similar to what I usually listen to in a wood: birds singing, the wind hitting the trees and rain. 

I don’t know why, but something clicked and I had to record everything and build artificial sounds around this kind of soundscapes. 

"Echoes from two worlds” is conceived within a concept around the sound of nature and human-generated sounds and how they can sometimes be completely different and in contrast with each other, but at the same time have a recurrent pattern that cannot be ignored. 

The idea within this album is to maintain the organic sounds of field recordings with a digital touch using pads and other harmonic sounds.

It seeks to access a deeper sonic dimension where the listener can immerse in a different perception of what we usually hear and try to focus our listening on the dialogue between us and the soundscapes that surround us. 

In this first work we also wanted to include a 3rd vision on these tracks and we’re thankful to have 3 remixes of three great artists and friends that joined this sonic experience with us. 

A special thanks to MARMO (Christian & Marco), Avsluta (Lucie) and Adrian Newgent for their reworks.
