Beginning as an Electronic Rock group not dissimilar to Zodiac Mindwarp And The Love Reaction DFA were critically acclaimed by music press and fans alike, however after three years the band had burnt itself out, this prompted Steve Dixon to take a trip around the world where he was exposed to Acid and House music.

Circa 1992 he and Brian Dixon begin making music again, though without vocals and guitars; the resulting mix of Acid, Dance and Techno was soon picked up by Peaceville's Hammy and he signed the band to his Dreamtime label. 

At this point original DFA guitarist Paul rejoined, and vocalist Hayley Windsor was recruited. In 1997 the band recorded their last album for Dreamtime; Om - 23.

Brian Moss and Hayley Windsor currently perform with Mirazma, Steve Dixon passed away in 2007.

The #1 charting artist on tastemaker site Beatport in 2015, EDX is now also the most streamed Swiss artist on Spotify with over 24 million plays on the platform over the past 12 months.  Proving just as prolific on the road, with over 140 shows played in 2016, a residency in Vegas with the Wynn group (XS, Encore Beach Club, Intrigue) and performances this year at Tomorrowland, Sziget Festival, Euforia Festival, Airbeat One, Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza, EDX now undoubtedly sits among the DJ elite.

Monkey Safari are brothers who can look back on a personal odyssey that’s lasted more than 30 years so far. They have a mutual musical spirit and through good and bad times have only grown closer. As such, the artwork for the album reflects that and was made by stitching both artist’s faces together, creating one persona from two individuals.
As DJs the pair have played everywhere from Timewarp to Awakenings Festival. They also own their own club, Charles Bronson, in their native Halle, Germany, and have released remixes and original material on top labels like Kompakt, Minus, and John Digweed’s Bedrock. The title of this impressive album reflects the journey the duo had throughout the writing process. It was one that took a long time and went from initially being about writing an album of listening music to evolve into being much more about music for the club and for many different dance floors.
''From our perspective, when it comes to music, a very important parameter is authenticity,” they say. “In our case it means we're playing dance music in clubs and at festivals the whole year round. And even though it would have been interesting to produce a "listening album" it wasn't the right time for that; which is why ultimately we chose to produce a club album. After all, the club has always been the space that has shaped us the most. It's a space that enables us to develop, test, and improve our music on a constant basis!’’
The album kicks off with squelchy synths and intoxicating vocal coos before getting more deep and stripped back, with a moody atmosphere pervading the supple grooves. Things get more melodic and subtly uplifting as the album progresses and tracks range from spooky to emotive to scintillating, with original ethereal vocals making a number of appearances. Each track offers something different in terms of mood and style, yet the whole album plays out like a perfect journey with all the necessary highs and lows required. At the same time, the pair's exquisite synth work and knack for well programmed drums always shine through and prove they are slicker than average studio wizards.

Dutch master Paul Hazendonk returns to the label with 'The Thoughts'. His last outing back in November of 2016 was received to high acclaim. On his long-awaited return to ICONYC, Paul delivers a slice of early spring vibes titled ‘The Thoughts’. 

The original kicks things off nicely with its melancholic moodiness shining through as we meander effortlessly through club inspired melodies, while the sultry chords sit wonderfully on top adding an extra layer of depth which are an integral component in the Paul Hazendonk production sound, as melodic techno, deep and progressive house are closely tied to sensations ranging across the spectrum from melancholy to delight.

Framewerk, famed for their intricate and refined productions created a rework full of tension from the word go, as the atmospheric vibe subtly keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a smooth edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as this restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a warm glow, creating an air of sophistication. "Essential stuff!"

Next up we have Kamilo Sanclemente & Golan Zocher, who have been tearing up dance floors with their recent productions. They keep the ethereal theme of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before drum fills and general warmth all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear yet sounding fresh - This mystical touch up takes the energy levels up a notch but increases the melancholy with stripped back and lucid elements at the same time, before the luscious pads grace the rework changing the vibe and creating a blanket of warmth that wraps around the effected groove.

Paul Hazendonk’s ‘The Thoughts’ sees a worldwide release April 23rd, 2018 via all well-known digital content providers. Not to be missed!
