Marcel Fengler's IMF label kicks off 2025 by unifying different generations on `The Past Voices EP'. It arrives on 7th February and features much-anticipated debut tracks from Tarkno alongside fellow new school talent The Sixth Sense who also goes solo on the flip while veteran Stigmata remixes. Remixer André Walter aka Stigmata has helped to define the techno underground since the 90s with several different projects. His signature sound is often deep and heavy and has come on serious techno labels for decades.

Marcel Fengler's IMF label kicks off 2025 by unifying different generations on `The Past Voices EP'. Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @marcel-fengler for its 111th episode of Amplify Series.

Marcel Fengler has been quoted as “one of the finest techno DJs” (Resident Advisor), earning international recognition for his “well-crafted body of production work” (FACT) and the unique, “multi-faceted personality” (Electronic Beats) he brings to his craft.

For almost three decades, Fengler has developed a versatile and dynamic DJing style, making him one of the first resident DJs at Berlin’s legendary Berghain / Panorama Bar in 2005. Known for his ability to shift pace, atmosphere, and energy in response to the dance floor, he seamlessly moves between industrial-drenched hardness, broken beats, gloomy dubs, and melodic grooves. His early releases on Ostgut Ton and Mote Evolver paved the way for his debut album, Fokus (2013), a statement of intent filled with emotional depth and unexpected contrasts.

In 2011, Fengler launched his imprint, Index Marcel Fengler (IMF), a label dedicated to his timeless techno vision while serving as a platform for emerging talent. This philosophy took on new dimensions in 2024 with the launch of ‚KISHIKAN’, an event series combining elements of his ‘IMF label showcases’, ‘Marcel Fengler Invites’ events and the newly established HARDPROOF VA project. With KISHIKAN, Fengler continues to push boundaries, creating a fresh space for artistic innovation and musical exploration.

For Marcel Fengler, techno is more than a genre - it is an unconditional passion and an essential part of his identity. Refusing to be confined to a linear sound, he constantly seeks new ways to tell stories through music, showcasing a bold and evolving vision that cements his place as one of today’s most exciting electronic artists.

Fast-rising Sol Ortega hails from Buenos Aires and has a deep musical background and appreciation for Detroit techno that shines in her music on labels like FJAAK's Crowd. She straddles the line between simplicity and complexity on the fantastic 'Itaewon' which is deep but bouncy techno run-through with subtle, euphoric synth work that layers in rising excitement.

Danny Wabbit is a minimalist from Istanbul who also works as KYMRS and explores pure techno hypnosis. He returns to the IMF HARDPROOF series with his thumping 'B12' which is a perfect example of that with expertly designed loops quickly locking you in while funky bass pumps the groove.

Medellín's Serge André has been honing his craft for over a decade. He is a vital promoter back home and heads up Mammboh Rhythm while filtering 90s sounds through his own contemporary lens. Part one of thew compilation explores deeper and more hypnotic territory, as the legendary Alva Noto makes his debut for IMF re-working the Fengler classic ‘Sphinx’ into a spaced-out industrial beast. DIN, the collaborative project between Fengler and Efdemin reaps an atmosphere-heavy new production titled ‘Akustikkoppler’. Scuba also contributes courtesy of his SCB project, crafting a tripped-out interpretation of Somewhen’s ‘Dain’ from IMF05. Elsewhere close friends Matrixxman (in collaboration with rising producer Riccardo Limiti) and Lucy, also join the project crafting powerful and timeless originals. Always with an eye on the future, Fengler drafts in emerging Serbian talent Blaukoma, who impresses with the pulsing, tension-packed ‘Iris Pattern’.
