In November 2020, KMRU self-released ‘Drawing Water’. The release contained 3 supple works of porous resonance and intimate motion, giving way to a very heartfelt body of work that peers directly into the fabric of the everyday; gestures, movement, conversation, rendered graciously into waveform.

Now, Vaagner is proud to present a special edition vinyl and cassette reissue of ‘Drawing Water’ via its A Sunken Mall imprint, with the original material spanning the first side of the record in remastered from.

Next to being a core member of the INDEx team, @edwardjohannes , formerly known as Generate, is also an amazing electronic musician. Inspired by a diverse range of genres, including jungle, breaks and jazz, Edward has crafted a sound that blends complex rhythms and refined melodies. His compositions radiate emotion and attention to detail, creating a bass-oriented experience. With his previous release as Generate, notable remixes for esteemed artists like Kettel, Roel Funcken, Emika, and Stillhead and features on respected compilation albums, Edward has continuously pushed his own unique sound

Julia Mira is a DJ, multidisciplinary artist, and LYL and Echobox radio resident from Estonia based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Inspired by a background in painting, as a DJ she takes up music as her palette. Her selections are utterly unpredictable, layering all in all, depending on the specific occasion. Her sets are expanding to a transcendent sound exploration with elements of left-field ambient, polyrhythmic rave insertions, and delicate electronic experimentalism. Approaching each set like a canvas, a blend of sensations are evoked, leaving sensual, imaginative space for lucid dreams, vivid stories, and an air of mystery to arise.

Hesh is somewhat of a traveler. He spent the last few years between Leeds, Brussels, Berlin and Maastricht and is now back in Brussels again. In his time in these cities he studied music in depth, discovering a deep passion for an environmental sound. His musical journey started with house music and then drifted away to acousmatic music, soundscapes and ankle breaking techno. Hesh is also the co-founder of @Initiate_concept and curator of the Initiate Reflexions Podcasts:

INDEx Mix #40 - Hesh

Taru is an Italian musician whos research weaves electronic experiments influenced by techno, jazz and classical baroque. He has released several albums, including Post Analogic Tales with Nous Disques and Spazio Primitivo with Secuencias Temporales. 

Minimalist variations and obsessive repetitions are essential parts of his practice and compositional signature, and some pieces move between the blurred lines of future-oriented electronics. Playing with timbral spatiality, his intention is to create a continuous musical flow, in search of (self-)knowledge and an attempt to deconstruct the concept of time. The result is like a merry-go-round that rises and falls in our perception of things. 

The idea behind this set is to narrate a fantasy universe set in the near future where hybridization between machines and humans has taken place and where biological and mechanical boundaries have merged.

A synth was used that allows modulations on three different oscillators in subtractive synthesis, playing on different parameters and tonalities. The tension of the repetitiveness is provided by the use of an arpeggiator connected to the synth, which increases the sense of temporal vertigo. A reverb was also connected to the synth, also modulated, to restore some atmospheric aspects to the rigid timbre of oscillators.
