Off of 88 Keys & Counting from Grieves & Budo. After self-releasing his debut album Irreversible in 2007, Grieves took that momentum out on the road developing an ever growing fan base from the west coast to the east coast.

While in Seattle, Grieves would eventually hook up with a talented producer and multi-instrumentalist by the name of Budo. In 2008 the duo would hook up and create 15 tracks of sample-free, melody-driven, analog warmth titled 88 Keys & Counting. A combination of sining and rapping tethered together by guitar, horn, and keyboard driven instrumentals.

Los Angeles based producer SPL and Portland based Triage and The Bassist are teaming up once again to re-release their highly revered ‘Pistol Pants’ track that was originally released in 2010 on SPL’s own Hollowpoint Recordings. This time, they’ve got seasoned bass music producer UFO! on board, who delivers a fiery, hooded-out remix of the original track. The three-track single also features a fresh new take of the original tune from SPL that embodies a perfect fusion of styles, as well as the original mix. The release will be offered exclusively on Beatport on November 13th and will be available at all major online music retailers on November 27th.

Ricky Hil, the tattooed, rebel son of fashion mogul Tommy Hillfiger is dropping his debut album SYLDD exclusively on Noisey.

The album is less of a public service announcement than its title might imply. Yes, Ricky is unapologetic about his drug use for most of the album, but there are also moments of self-reflection and critique of the rampant perscription drug use in America. SYLDD feels more like if Future or syrup-era Lil Wayne were moonlighting as singer/songwriters over some envelope-pushing beats from the likes of Illangelo, Blended Babies and Ricky Hil himself.

Perhaps a more accurate description of Ricky Hil would be to compare him to the similarly drug-and-sex-oriented R&B phenom The Weeknd, who makes an appearance on SYLDD on the standout “Nomads.” Ricky twists and mangles his raspy voice over every snare and hi-hat, taking his flow to gloriously counterintuitive places, a reflection of the darkness he's trying to communicateto the listener.

Because Ricky Hil doesn’t give a fuck about his label and wanted to get the album to his fans on the day he promised it would come out, and because we at Noisey love music and drugs and music about drugs, we’re giving you Rich Hil’s debut album SYLDD for free.
