Take a trip down memory lane and experience the labels and artists that inspired the industrial sound we are pushing today.

Here are some words from Trice who made this mix for us:

Moving Shadow was a label that was there from the beginning. From early hardcore releases from the likes of 2 Bad Mice, the label went on to release some of the classics of jungle and early drum and bass such as Renegade's Terrorist, Dead Dred's Dred Bass and Omni Trio's Renegade Snares. By the end of the decade though, the music was changing, splintering into factions. Some, like E-Z Rollers, were infusing their music with jazz and funk samples for dancefloor tunes with mainstream appeal. Others, were developing in a much darker and future-oriented direction, pushing their technology to the limits in the search of new sounds. Techstep pioneers Dom & Roland and Technical Itch's releases broke new ground and were important steps on the way to neurofunk. Both of these tendencies found a home on Moving Shadow.

This era (1996-1999) was the time in which I discovered drum and bass, on friends' records and CDs and later in clubs and at free parties. Moving Shadow tunes were central to that scene. Some of the files I used for the mix were ripped from CDs I bought and borrowed back in the day; some are ones that I used to own on vinyl but which, sadly, were sold decades ago. I loved it all, the light and the dark, and I hope that the mix will give you a flavour of how it was back then. Peace, Dan/Trice
