Dinner music to be played at UCSD Price Center food court.

This piece was composed to be performed at UCSD Price Center, in the fast-food dining area.
10 performers triggered the sound track using their phones, connected to small portable speakers.
They were supposed to act naturally and walk discretely through the dining area, around the costumers, carrying phones connected to portables speakers that should blast the music as loud as possible.
The speakers should not be visible (performers can hide them in their pockets, hats, bags etc) but should be pretty audible.
It is intended that the "audience" should not be able to recognize where the music is coming from.
The performers should disperse discretely when the music is over.

Some words about the piece: 

Question of identity : 
 These instruments have at least one thing in common. They are all well-known in the repertoire for having “ beautiful, pure, bright” sounds. 
In my opinion, everything in our daily lives consist of many layers. Any of
these layers could reveal different kinds of identities/ qualities. We can
only perceive these different identities, by changing the environment and
habits of the norms. Different colors and qualities will come out and present
themselves since they have been placed in a “ not well-known situation.
In this piece, I am observing the behavior and attitude of three Individuals.
by preparing the instruments I am aiming to bring new characters, qualities
and colors in front. In other words I am changing their identities( if that
is possible at all ?!?) through changing their situations in which “ things”
happens.
We can still hear that “ pure” resonance, but also some “ new” sounds as
well. different shapes and colors of noises and layers. Observing how they
react alone, or together as duo or as trio. Could their quality and voice
change?!? It is an observation of how and if we are able to change the
identities and at the same time presenting the idea of “ anything could be
beautiful & special & pleasant”. we are the ones who defines everything
around us, giving identities and “ labels. so, nothing is ever fix,
everything is changeable.

Situation III / JE TU NOUS ( 2016)

Akasha (आकाश) is a music of invisibility, electricity and the open expanse of the sky. The title is the Sanskrit word for the æther, a concept once understood as an unseen force present in all things in motion in the world.

Akasha was written for the JACK Quartet who gave the premiere on 6 February 2016 in Paine Hall on the campus of Harvard University.

This performance is the JACK Quartet playing the dress rehearsal the day of the premiere.

Autumn Rhythm

Jon Seagroatt plays variously bass, flute, soprano & tenor saxes, bass clarinet, percussion, keyboards, electronics and the occasional bit of wobbly trombone with a variety of ensembles and groups that have included Comus, Current 93, Red Square, B So glObal & Circuit.
He also works as a session player, recording engineer and producer. In one or another of the above guises, Jon has toured, recorded and performed in Britain, Europe and the Far East.
