Wood Thrush and Swainsons Thrush slowed down 980%

This piece was installed in a tree by the Humboldt Park Field House on September 23rd, 2017 as part of the group exhibition 'GROWTH,' which featured the Inferno Mobile Recording Studio summer artists in residence. Ed Bornstein, Emme WIlliams, Rob Frye, and Ben Lamar Gay were sent out into the park district to engage and record with the constituents of the parks.  Rob's workshop often featured listening/processing exercises to sounds of nature, homemade instruments, group loop building.

EP 2 Social Distance Radio @ Oharllern Park

Inferno is a mobile youth arts program from the Chicago Park District, focusing on recording and media. We provide young people and community members of all ages and abilities with the tools to create self-authored digital media experiences. By enabling participants to produce original socially conscious works, we help to expand critical thinking skills through creative experimentation, collaboration and discussion.

Examples of work we do:
• Collaborative music sessions (electronic and acoustic)
• Video, photo and multimedia art projects
• Software/hardware training and workshops 
• Documentary and story-sharing
