Toronto's Gregory "Lowfish" De Rocher survived a childhood hearing problem and the demise of Canadian manufactured 12" vinyl ( a costly complication for his and partner Jason Amm's Suction Label) De Rocher brings his accessible breed of electro to his new Satamile LP, steeped more in dubby, early detroit beat structures ("Torsion") and catchy, big room synth overlays ("Wahawa") than the lean, techno driven styles of other electro greats like Anthony Rother. Which does not render these cuts any less enjoyable: "Bitter," one of Burns's leanest tracks, delivers an electro masterpiece by locking a minimal 3/4 electro baseline into rhythmic nirvana with a simple wee-eeeer melody. Its all expertly produced stuff, made for kicking up your 2 a.m. DJ set a notch or two.

Nobody knew too much about Krywald & Farrer when their email landed in our Gmail accounts late earlier this month. They’ve earned their stripes, yes. Their residencies at a number of London’s clubs tell us that story. But today’s debut tells us that they clearly just get a kick out of smushing genres together.

“The People’s Asafo” sees warm house textures flirt with an infusion of Ghanaian beatwork for eight minutes. A coaxing leg-shaker if there ever was one. It arrives on March 30th (via Silver Bear Recordings) and backed by B-side “He’s The Chief” which continues the afrocentric theme with gusto.

Goran 01 is the work of Slobban, a late 90’s trio of Jens Johansson, Peter Gustafsson and Carl Magnus Ernström from Falun, two hours north of Stockholm. Surrounded by snow and inspired by the sounds of US House music aswell as the contemporary european house sound, they created music that is just as jazzy and soulful as it is functional dance tracks. Slobban EP was originally released in a 100 copies in -99. Two solid uptempo house tracks, ’Funkig Gura Med Hus’ and ’About Your Woman’ and on the flip side a jackin’ techno workout named ’Amour!
