 Two years have passed since “Tregua”, Petit Singe’s debut on Haunter Records. A key moment for both the label and the artist, it represented Hazina Francia’s move out of the shadows, introducing her unconventional taste for hybridization. Unnumerable gigs and experiences later, Francia’s vision and artistic capability have grown richer and broader, leading her to new path. The 5 tracks that compose “Akash Ganga” are here to testify an unresting spiritual investigation. They construct a sonic scenario that brings her mix of post-club sensibilities, and reminiscences of her native India directly into space, injecting her tabla-led polyrhythms with cinematic sound design. Francia’s talent for gracious meditative moments is here constantly mutating into unprecedented heavier tones, letting the moments of melodic reverie and those of sheer percussive intensity strengthen each other. All this elements fuel the impressionistic narrative Francia has decided to arrange: mixing elements of her personal biography (like naming one of the tracks after the date her foster parents brought her to Italy from Bengala) with fragments from the history of digital experiences and elements of her eastern heritage. This allows her to use music as a mean to explore themes of personal and cultural identity, as well as technological evolution and gender.

W3C returns to Infinite Machine following-up his highly acclaimed "State Of Absolute Alienation" EP released in 2017.

"Event Horizon" symbolically portrays a trip into a very distant and completely alien region of space in which many of our preconceptions are turned on their head. Especially those of what the UK sound is and what you can potentially do with it.

Thoroughly emphasized is the interaction and symbiosis of the old and the new, the known and the unknown. As the symbolic space vessel enters the deep unknown of our universe, the well known characteristics and traits of the UK sound get mangled and mutated into something wholly different.

When listening and passing through the "Event Horizon" you enter into a realm of epic, unimagined vistas of sound, of deep, all-consuming waves of bass and of a deeply strange and primordial quality.

Over the past six years, outsider dance producer Air Max ’97 has become known for his dark, mangled set of “oblique club trax” (as he’s described them) that draw from grime, Jersey club and a variety of other scenes with distinct sounds and cultures. The London-via-Melbourne producer has now taken the knife to an artist he cites as one of his biggest inspirations: Becoming Real. In a recent interview, he explained he still plays Becoming Real’s 2010 FACT mix to this day. “It’s come full circle,” Air Max ’97 continued. “Five years later, after speaking with Toby [Becoming Real], I’ve done a remix for his new EP and I’m playing the release party.” “Becoming Real’s kinetic, bodily production style was a huge influence on me when I first started trying to produce music,” Air Max ’97 tells Dummy of the remix, “so getting involved in this release feels like a coming full circle of sorts. I sweated over an earlier version of the remix before canning it and working this one up in one session.” A midnight-hued, percussive rework, you can – and should – tune in now:

Debuting on London-based Label TT, Matters of Ascension is a 6-track collaborative EP by Thammudu & Mishti.

Sonically haunted by the ghostly remains of identity, the project questions the potential and limitations of spirituality to leverage material reality. In a startling bout of torment, “New Moon” introduces a nightmarish soundtrack of mundane engagements with the self.
Foreshadowed by the screeches of painted storks, the disintegrated and danceable “Body Negativity” greets the listener with a familiar foreboding acknowledgement of flesh and bone. 

In “The Fiery Wheel”, the duo situates a cynical reading of surrealist anti-colonial poetry atop a hypnotic rhythm of clanging metal and disembodied voices. Culminating in a blissful summery haze, the project concludes with the Marx-inspired “From Earth to Heaven”.

Hidden in plain sight, grinning through worry, living in insecurity – modern society has returned to a day-by-day race for survival. To be vulnerable is the new normal; afraid, a bare minimum. Something was bound to emerge from the quiet throngs of the new precariat, and Racine is such a voice, setting to music those modern lives defined by uncertainty.

Quelque Chose Tombe (‘Something Falls’) is a set of compositions that confronts demons both inner and outer head-on. Created during a period of necessary unemployment somewhere in Montreal – caring for one’s health can take precedence over work – the music is both a grotesque dance of the goblins and the gentle opiatic breath of the protectors. It’s a harrowing reflection of the prevalent vampiric hypochondria forcing a generation into fatigue.

The sounds crawling out of Racine speak with their own internal logic. Snippets of fractured tunes creak through perturbed post-digital soundscapes, blurred and fragmented along the way into haunting amorphous instrumentals. The two-part title track is multi-part sonic maze where raven-like pitch bent notes gather, a broken rave theme punctures its way through bass fog, and silence clefts the music in two, ushering in a coda of heartbroken ambience. As the album’s suite progresses, Racine shepherds mutant melodic themes in and out of earshot, like clear thoughts bringing temporary order to a state of emotional panic and withdrawal. A host of other sounds too – voices and birdsong, cybernetically deformed – populate Racine’s scarred productions.

Emerging from Quelque Chose Tombe’s constant darkness however, is a latent sense of hope. Racine is turning modern vulnerability into a strength, creating a singular aesthetic to reflect and confront an uncomfortable present.
