Unter Turntablism versteht man die Manipulation von Schallplatten mit einem Plattenspieler, so dass die Töne der Schallplatte in einem völlig neuen Kontext zusammengesetzt werden. So steht es bei Wikipedia geschrieben und wenn es jemanden gibt, der sich genauer damit auskennt, könnte man Jon1st fragen. Jon1st ist DJ und Producer, Resident bei Ivy Labs 20/20 Events und gewann 2013 die World DMC Worldchampionship. Neben Veröffentlichungen mit Beardyman, Sam Binga, Thebis und vielen weiteren arbeitet er zur Zeit intensiv an Shows und Veröffentlichungen mit DJ Shield, zu denen es bereits einige sehr kurzweilige Videos und Releases gibt. Wir sind jedenfalls sehr glücklich Jon1st in unserer kleine Podcastreihe begrüßen zu können!

Infinite Sequence Podcast #026 - Jon1st (World DMC Champion, UK)

Today's installment in the Booms and Claps mix series comes to us from London's Lewis James in the form of a 47 minute turbo-charged high octane journey through halftime drum and bass beats, footwork, jungle, electro-influenced ghettotech and juke, and 160 bpm rave music. We've had our eye on Lewis for quite some time now, from his early self-released Bandcamp beats, to releases on the legendary Lowriders Recordings and Rua Sound, to his recent success with major uptempo bass music imprints like 1985 Music and Astrophonica Recordings, and we couldn't be more excited to see where he goes from here. From what we're hearing in this mix, it seems like he's taken an interest in the four on the floor 160 bpm electro sound that has been championed recently by folks like Fracture and Om Unit, and we certainly hope there's more to come from him in that vein. BnC Mix 047: Lewis James

This is the first episode of Common Thread Radio, a new radio show on Stranded FM with myself and my good friend Cees. We're taking over from our friend Levi aka El Maria, who did a show every four weeks on Friday evening. We'll be doing the same thing.

So about the show: Cees and I are both into all kinds of music, and we come at it from different backgrounds. However, we have a huge overlap in our musical tastes, which are eclectic and don't always necessarily fit in the DJ sets we get to play. 

Some of you are probably listening to this expecting a show with the latest in dubstep, jungle and that sort of thing. On this show, we're planning to play all kinds of music and not limit ourselves to a genre or sound. It'll be mainly electronic music in the mix, but there will be room for other stuff as well.This also includes music we produce ourselves, music by friends, et cetera.

We're excited about being able to broadcast the music that we love and we hope you'll be tuning in or listening back to the shows when we upload them.

The episode you're about to listen to was recorded solo by Cees because I was in the UK playing shows. It's an excellent start to the show and a great example of what to expect from us in the future.

Speaking of playing shows, doing things solo and the future: due to the COVID-19 or Corona virus pandemic, we won't be able to broadcast from the Stranded FM studio. We will however stream the show from one of our homes for the foreseeable future. If we can't be in the same space at all due to a more strict lockdown, we'll try and figure something out to keep things going.
