4CM013 - foundations vol 1 - The foundations series is a new concept from Four corners bossman Melinki. The various artist series will be all about bringing brand new names to the label and giving them a chance to build the foundations for future solo projects. 
Searching out new talent and helping to guide and nurture that talent is something four corners takes pride in and we want to dedicate a series of eps to do just that. 
So here we have it , four fresh cuts from four brand new names. True to the four corners ethos there’s something for everyone in here ! 
Going straight in with Raybee’s navigate , a technical percussive rollout , aimed straight at the dance floor. An impressive debut from Raybee. 
Onto mood swings by system and wise. A track that does exactly what it says on the tin. Easing you into a false sense of security on the intro with a dreamy atmosphere and pads only to surprise you with a disgusting baseline when it drops. A great crossover track! 
Up next we have d’cypher with ride the wave,  a track full of funk and character that will go down great in a studio mix but also cause damage on the dance floor. This only being d’cyphers second ever release proves he is one to watch. 
Lastly but not by any means least we have some liquid gold from Avalon rays with his track brighten up. Not only did Avalon rays play and produce the track he also sang the vocal. Brighten up rounds off the release nicely and does just that. This one will go down perfectly with a cold beer in the summer sun.

Creative powerhouse Joe Moses (Need For Mirrors) returns to V Recordings with a four track EP. He requires little introduction and neither does the quality of his production, made clear by his most recent releases with us such as ‘Tidal Wavey’, ‘Slaves Of Empire’ and ‘Pagans’.

The first track ‘No Nukes’ is a homage to one of V Recordings most seminal releases, Warhead. With skippy drums and FX running over the booming bass stabs and Warheads original drum samples gifted by Krust himself. Need For Mirrors’ diversity continues through ‘Passive Aggressive’ and ‘Nipples’, both experimenting with extended sub-low frequencies to create two powerful pieces. ‘Jetson Elroy’ is the most melancholic of the four, with its soft, rich textures bringing the EP to a perfect close.

We would expect no less from this Soul In Motion co-founder, this EP is top-tier.

Think Tonk returns to V Recordings with another offering of original vibes. Two vocal cuts inbound as Manchesters finest join forces, ’Low Key Slippy’ with Fox gives a nod to Underworld in true junglist fashion. ’Hill & Valley’ with Kemikal holds a similar dub signature to Think Tonks previous releases, such as the ‘Tonic Wine’ Ep rereleased at the end of 2018. 

Since releasing their debut single back in 2015, Think Tonk have had a constant string of support from radio taste makers such as Toddla T, DJ Target, Mistajam, Annie Mac and many more. This release is both unique and refreshing, proving once again that Think Tonk cannot be pigeonholed.

Aaron Jay is head of A&R and owns Influence Records. 

Aaron started DJing in 1997. Between 2001-2003 Aaron was invited on a regular basis to warm up the bar at Bryan G's weekly night Movement which led him to be noticed by the scenes major players. 

2003-2011 Aaron Jay was made resident at Fabio's legendary night Swerve, playing every month to the dub hungry punters who like their rhythms soulful and funky. 

To support this Aaron joined premier DJ agency Groove Connection, joining an A-List roster that included Drum and Bass Pioneers Fabio and Grooverider. 

Known for playing Detroit Techno, Dub, Jazz, Rare Groove and deep inspired Drum and Bass, he has also gone on to perform at such legendary venues as Fabric, The END, CABLE, Heaven, Brixton O2 Arena as well as playing abroad. 

In 2008 Aaron set up Influence Records - supporting artists such as; Easy and Geeks, Commix, Jay Dubz, Mr Joseph, Lynx, Phil Tangent, CPH, A-Audio, Conrad Subs, Seba, L-Side, Hobzee and Zyon Base, HLZ, Dave Owen, Sergio Manifesto, Random Movement, Duoscience, Flaco, Bungle, Zero T, Conrad Subs, KMTR, Soul Intent, Brother, ICR, Kjell, Bal, Data, Sinistarr, Undefined, Atom, RawQ plus many others. 

Influence reflects his personal style, drawing upon deeper and leftfield flavours within the genre. Aaron Jay also teamed up in the studio with Lynx (Hospital Records, Creative Source, Soul:r, Detail) and has released two singles on Doc Scott's 31 Records.
