There’s been a lot of hype around this week’s SOLITUDE guest mix and we couldn’t be more gassed to share it with you… We present the almighty @samshaddows 👻 

He’s broken a record for our series so far, with this mix featuring TWELVE unreleased tunes from himself and colleagues on big labels, as well as a total of FIFTEEN self-produced riddims. Some of which are fresh off the DAW and have never been heard before - SOLITUDE world exclusives in full effect 🌎 

Shadows was previously known as Splinter and even back then, he was quickly recognised for his intricate layering within productions, his wide and technical soundscapes and his effortless blend of smooth liquid, complex rollers and atmospheric samples in all of his releases 🎹 

Since Shadows became his new alias, his work rate and overall skill as a DJ & producer have gone through the roof 🏠 ⬆️ 

His debut EP “Reflections” reached #3 on the @beatport D&B chart with the release dropping via our friends at @sine-audio. A few weeks later, he dropped the “Illuzion” EP with @incurzionaudio featuring a big bad collab with @exult_uk - If you haven’t checked these yet, please do so ASAP they’re fire 🔥 

He’s got another EP dropping over the next few weeks, details TBC. Follow his socials to keep up to date as the man is active in 2021 and is booked up throughout the rest of the year, especially in his new hometown Bristol and his old bits in London 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 

It’s also worth mentioning that he’s one of the soundest guys you’ll ever meet. Heart of gold combined with a ridiculous brain that’s wired to dedicate his energy towards to his music, friends, BMX runs and overall good human vibe ♥️

MIX SERIES: 017 / SHADDOWS

The final part of our 5 year celebrations are here and just like our second part, we've asked a wealth of talent to remix some of the classics we've had the pleasure to release over the years. The final batch of remixes showcase the variety we've always prided ourselves on, from classic liquid vibes by Echo Motion and Hazqa, jungle flavours by Karma Kingdom, jump up by Colossus and deeper vibes by Enok & Option collaborating for the first ever time.

Up first, Enok & Option team up to take Mindloader's debut Detached offering down a deeper direction, while bringing out the best in both of their individual styles. This is followed up by Karma Kingdom returning to the label to flip K2T & Sirus' 2018 classic, 'Rwenzori'. By keeping true to the original and updating it with chopped amens and a more rugged bassline, Karma Kingdom showcases his unique take on Drum & Bass effortlessly once again.

Colossus steps to the plate next to rework Linear's track 'Calling' and transforming it into a jump up monster, showcasing this talent's versatility. Echo Motion's remix of 'A Carousel in My Mind' by K2T & Sahara follows, taking the hip hop original down a liquid Drum & Bass route, as Echo Motion does best. This EP is concluded by Hazqa, who takes K2T & Echo Motion's playful 'Arctotis' down a more mellow direction while maintaining the essence of the infectious piano hook from the original.

It's been a pleasure providing high quality music for the last 5 years and as we at Detached move into the next 5 years, we can't wait to continue staying true to our ethos.

Kidsonic is a Visually Impaired DJ and Producer from Bristol, who also has ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder, more commonly known as Asperger's). He started making music at age of 12 whilst battling with hardship. It wasn't until College where he started to home in on DnB, particularly the Deep and subby style that he is known for. With Releases on labels including Ekou Recordings, Impact Music, Strictly Deep DnB, Monk Audio, Hanzom Music, InHabit Recordings, Four Corners Music to name a few, and support from artists such as Nik, Thys and Martijn (FKA Noisia), Philth, Arkaik, Dilemma, Melinki, QZB, Ill Truth, and Fre4knc among other established names in the scene, Kidsonic is a name you should definitely keep an eye on! So If you’re fans of the Deep, Dark, Minimal, Atmospheric and sometimes melodic sounds of artists such as Arkaik, Amoss, Bredren, Creatures, Kyrist, Enei, QZB and Ill Truth, you’re sure going to love Kidsonic!

Aaron Jay is head of A&R and owns Influence Records. 

Aaron started DJing in 1997. Between 2001-2003 Aaron was invited on a regular basis to warm up the bar at Bryan G's weekly night Movement which led him to be noticed by the scenes major players. 

2003-2011 Aaron Jay was made resident at Fabio's legendary night Swerve, playing every month to the dub hungry punters who like their rhythms soulful and funky. 

To support this Aaron joined premier DJ agency Groove Connection, joining an A-List roster that included Drum and Bass Pioneers Fabio and Grooverider. 

Known for playing Detroit Techno, Dub, Jazz, Rare Groove and deep inspired Drum and Bass, he has also gone on to perform at such legendary venues as Fabric, The END, CABLE, Heaven, Brixton O2 Arena as well as playing abroad. 

In 2008 Aaron set up Influence Records - supporting artists such as; Easy and Geeks, Commix, Jay Dubz, Mr Joseph, Lynx, Phil Tangent, CPH, A-Audio, Conrad Subs, Seba, L-Side, Hobzee and Zyon Base, HLZ, Dave Owen, Sergio Manifesto, Random Movement, Duoscience, Flaco, Bungle, Zero T, Conrad Subs, KMTR, Soul Intent, Brother, ICR, Kjell, Bal, Data, Sinistarr, Undefined, Atom, RawQ plus many others. 

Influence reflects his personal style, drawing upon deeper and leftfield flavours within the genre. Aaron Jay also teamed up in the studio with Lynx (Hospital Records, Creative Source, Soul:r, Detail) and has released two singles on Doc Scott's 31 Records.
