Known to pretty much never drop a beat and be absolutely on point with hunting down the latest and best sounds, his technical ability and superb selection have seen him asked to be a resident DJ for some of the best in the business – Metalheadz, Hardware, Exit – and the list could go on and on. He’s also really increased his own production output in the last years, gracing labels such as Exit, Digital Soundboy, Metalheadz and of course his own CX:Digital imprint. 

All of this makes his contribution to the music both undeniable and totally essential – immerse yourself in the sounds – and we’ll see you next week on the island!  


SUN AND BASS Podcast #28 - Loxy

On WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 6th, STUNNA kicks off a brand new month of broadcasts in 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE radio. In this week's edition, STUNNA welcomes back seasoned selector ChRiStAL to the program for an exclusive guest mix.

UK-based DJ ChRiStAL is the co-owner of prominent DRUM+BASS label SMOOTH N GROOVE RECORDS, alongside U.S.-based CLEN. The imprint is based out of NORTHAMPTON, UK and WASHINGTON, D.C., respectively.

Initially launching in MAY 2016 with their debut release, in form of JRUMHAND's 'BEACHES + COUNTRYSIDE' EP, SMOOTH N GROOVE RECORDS quickly became a revered imprint, dedicated to bringing atmospheric, funky, soulful, and rolling vibes from the best in the scene to the ears of all listeners worldwide. Since its conception, SMOOTH N GROOVE RECORDS has established a respectable place within the scene, with full support from its peers and an ever-growing fan base.

In addition to his work on the administrative side of the label, since 2018, ChRiStAL has been running a DRUM+BASS club night alongside SOUL DEEP RECRODINGS' head honcho SCOTT ALLEN,, CLEN and JOHN CROSSLAND (AKA SoulStructure). Aptly named "SOUL DEEP vs SMOOTH N GROOVE," the series features a myriad of artists from both labels performing at their events. They have also taken the "SOUL DEEP vs SMOOTH N GROOVE" brand to the west coast of AMERICA, hosting parties in LOS ANGELES at "RESPECT," and "STAMINA" in SAN FRANCISCO.

One Night Forever

Aaron Jay is head of A&R and owns Influence Records. 

Aaron started DJing in 1997. Between 2001-2003 Aaron was invited on a regular basis to warm up the bar at Bryan G's weekly night Movement which led him to be noticed by the scenes major players. 

2003-2011 Aaron Jay was made resident at Fabio's legendary night Swerve, playing every month to the dub hungry punters who like their rhythms soulful and funky. 

To support this Aaron joined premier DJ agency Groove Connection, joining an A-List roster that included Drum and Bass Pioneers Fabio and Grooverider. 

Known for playing Detroit Techno, Dub, Jazz, Rare Groove and deep inspired Drum and Bass, he has also gone on to perform at such legendary venues as Fabric, The END, CABLE, Heaven, Brixton O2 Arena as well as playing abroad. 

In 2008 Aaron set up Influence Records - supporting artists such as; Easy and Geeks, Commix, Jay Dubz, Mr Joseph, Lynx, Phil Tangent, CPH, A-Audio, Conrad Subs, Seba, L-Side, Hobzee and Zyon Base, HLZ, Dave Owen, Sergio Manifesto, Random Movement, Duoscience, Flaco, Bungle, Zero T, Conrad Subs, KMTR, Soul Intent, Brother, ICR, Kjell, Bal, Data, Sinistarr, Undefined, Atom, RawQ plus many others. 

Influence reflects his personal style, drawing upon deeper and leftfield flavours within the genre. Aaron Jay also teamed up in the studio with Lynx (Hospital Records, Creative Source, Soul:r, Detail) and has released two singles on Doc Scott's 31 Records.
