Inform Records is very proud to announce INFORMV001, our first vinyl release. This time Inform we've added another layer to the international dimension established on their last single with the inclusion of two D&B prodigies Dynamic & Command Strange.

Originally from Kazakhstan, Command Strange has developed a fearsome reputation as an incredibly talented producer and DJ with both past and incoming releases on, among others; V Records, Horizons Music, Good Looking, Liquid V, Fokuz, Integral, Celsius, Antillectual Beats, Metalheadz Platinum and Nu Directions.

Command Strange is reunited on INFORMV001 with his soul brother: Dynamic. As a new addition to the Inform stable and rising star Dynamic has rapidly carved out his own niche in the UK liquid scene with releases on Goodlooking, Fokuz, Celsuis & Black Reflections Records and has had DJ support from musical titans like LTJ Bukem, Bailey and Mary Anne Hobbs to name but a few.

The A side, entitled A Girl Like You, is the more relaxed affair of the two and is plainly a tune made with summer in mind. The track itself is built around a subtle vocal sample that references classic soul and funk and is offset by beautiful sweeping pads and rhodes chords that really make this track stand out. The soul groove that the intro establishes is accentuated by a low, sweeping, analogue-sounding bassline that nicely compliments the duoʼs gentle, natural drum sounds. A dazzling slice of liquid funk that carries on in Informʼs liquid vein while simultaneously setting the bar high for any artist to follow.

Luckily the following artist is none other than the one of the USAʼs greatest exports and a man that needs no introduction; Random Movement. Back on remix duty again, RMʼs take on A Girl Like You keeps all of the originalʼs melodic elements and combines them with his own signature tight production. The B side is definitely more of a dancefloor track; the drums are a little harder, thereʼs a catchy guitar hook thatʼll catch you and make you want to move and the bassline has a ruder, more synthetic edge thatʼs sure to cause some damage on a system.

From career-igniting releases to mighty moments from some of D&B’s biggest names, Program’s dedication to forward thinking D&B goes from strength to strength. Over the past seven releases, the label have acted as a solid platform for exciting new drum & bass prospects such as Frankee, Chroma, LoKo and Nitri as well as bolster the repertoires of longer-standing scene preachers Wickaman, Hoodlum, Mavrik, Bladerunner, RV and Paul B.

Now peering over the edge of their second year, the label is re-engaging with some of the acts they broke last summer for some equally impressive follow-up releases. Kove is the first to return to the label. A talented tattooed tearaway with a taste for both the blazing beats and the deeper side of the dance, both cuts on his Program debut - ‘Iodine’ and ‘Open Ground’ - became instant 2012 dancefloor standards, championed by key players across the board.

‘Gone’ continues his promising audio armoury with distinct maturity. Breathy and breezy, its stunning depths become apparent from the very first fluttering pad. Coated in a beautifully underplayed vocal hook, ‘Gone’ rolls with blistered bass grace as staccato kicks and snares puncture the otherwise dreamy ambience… And the groove masterfully develops with timeless dancefloor dynamics. Rolling but never quite rampaging, it represents everything that you fell in love with drum & bass in the first place: subtleties, sophistication and just a slight sense of pensive menace.     

‘Airlock’ follows. Allowing the vocal to play more of a dominant role in the mix, it’s Kove at his most yearning and poignant. Opening with a blast of minor key euphoria, the skippy, snappy breakbeats take complete control of the groove, bowing a big nod to drum & bass’s most formative period. Stark and solid, warm and rolling, as ‘Airlock’ develops we’re treated a fine balance of cruising synth washes and laidback guitar licks as the vocal whistles deep in the well-textured mix. If you’re looking to hypnotise your floor any time soon then look no further… This will have your crowd locked in tighter than a state penitentiary.

Finally, as a generous digital exclusive, Program have squeezed a second version of ‘Gone’ from Kove. The special ‘6AM’ mix takes off from the spine-shuddered mess the original left us in… And it does so with a heavier, classically trained breakbeat, fuller bodied bassline and languishing rim-shot soaked ending. Perfect for a late-night reboot or end-of-party hug-inducer, we’re anticipated some serious heavy rotation as the warmer months ease in.

This remix / cover came about because an old school friend of David Satori by the name of Charles Butler decided to post a video of himself playing a little diddy called "Get Lucky' from the badass french duo known as DAFT PUNK! This video inspired Beats Antique to feat. Charles in a collaboration and here you go! Charles is the reason David from Beats Antique plays Banjo so its been a pleasure collaborating with this fine young gentleman once again.
