Call Me Dave - The Discography Lessons # 55

After last years „20+years in jazznotjazz“ label anniversary release with 14 new & unreleased titles we continue with a series of remixes to this release in the next month.

With „A Chance for Peace“ the one and only cover-version (Lonnie Liston Smith) on the anniversary release, recorded by Mop Mop with vocals by Sara Sayed (from Rime), this release pays tribute and respect to the roots and completes the picture of INFRACom!...and by the way it comes with a message we want to underline - even so the original is back from 1975, it seems to be highly current these days again. ...give peace a chance and see what happens....!!!!

We are very happy and proud that the first remix is delivered by none less than DJ Smash who closes the circle somehow, as the term „jazznotjazz“, which is used for the anniversary release is originally from DJ Smash (Hunter) from NY who released a 12“ on his own labels New Breed and Eightball in the beginning of the nineties under this moniker.
This 12“ (Flip & Trip), a hybrid of jazz and heavy electronic broken beats influenced Jan & Namé to that extend that it became the key vinyl by the time in their dj sets. Eventually they overtook the name and defined it as the motto for their future work.

The remix itself takes the tune to the dancefloor with a positive 80ties tribute vibe of funk and disco on a 4 to floor beat.

Montreal's @JacquesGreene is releasing a deluxe edition of his 2019 'Dawn Chorus' LP via @LuckyMe this month.

'Dawn Chorus', Greene's long-awaited second album, was a well-worth-the-wait exploration into the weird and wonderful emotions and experiences that only occur in those afterglow hours post-rave and pre sleeping in your own bed inevitably at some ridiculous time in the afternoon. Or is that just us?

Anyway, it was a wonderful release in its original form (and well received, too) with Greene confident in his new space and sound, a sound removed – but not completely cut off from – the early Night Slugs era, post dubstep material he released around the start of the 10s. 

But now, with musical pals such as Ciel, Nathan Micay, Lunice, Martyn Bootyspoon and UK producer Fort Romeau drenching Greene's tracks in their own colourful hues, 'Dawn Chorus' grows and shape-shifts both Greene and his songs once more. 

On the menu there's "club primetime house and techno, afterparty warehouse versions, IDM, shoegaze and fully deconstructed ambient" so there's plenty to tuck into, with @FortRomeau's remix of 'Night Service' among the highlights.

The label INFRACom! was founded by Name Leonhard-Vaughn (†) and Jan Hagenkötter in 1992. In the last decade INFRACom! has released over 100 records. At home in Frankfurt am Main, the financial capital and skyscraper city of Germany, Namé Leonhard Vaughn and Jan Hagenkötter started their mutual relationship as a soundsystem in late eighties and beginning of the nineties, way before Berlin discovered the art of raving.
 
The Frankfurt of the time was very musically eclectic. You’d meet the same crew of people whether you were at a techno, hip-hop, or reggae party exactly the right soil to found a label that was open-minded in spirit and taste. A label dedicated to the artist and not to one sole style. Staying true to this vision these two guys have contributed greatly to the forging of a scene that crosses all borders musically, geographically and racially.
