Both Matt & Jaren Cerf (Fenja) rose to fame as part of ‘Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren’ clocking up many a successful release across the Armada group. Canadian native Raneem has seen similar success having chocked up releases on labels such as High Contrast as well as the iconic ReBrand Records ran by fellow Canadian Max Graham!

The original mix is a sweet, tranquil groove driven ode loaded full of exquisite vocal lines and harmonies revealing a story of true love. Amply backed by a jackin’ bass line groove, punchy beats and a pulsating pad melody this is a refreshing production which breaks from the monotony!  

On the flip we have enlisted the fresh production talents of the enigmatic Avenue One. Having already nailed a remix for Aly & Fila which appears on the remix version of ‘The Other Shore’ we knew that we had to get these in form producers to give us another take on this sublime creation. Big bold beats, stabs and drops a plenty fill this alternative mix which is the perfect countermeasure to the rounded original mix.

Finnish group Our Stolen Theory returns to Silk Music, several years after their timeless downtempo release, "Warmest Day". Combining a pop-influenced vocal aesthetic with uplifting acoustic and electronic instrumentation, Our Stolen Theory delivers another stunning single in "Godzilla Watch"; the release also features fellow label veterans LTN and The Madison, who contribute inspiring interpretations of their own.

The original mix kicks off with gorgeous harmonies, backed by reverberating, U2-influenced guitar riffs. Lyrically speaking, a narrative of an imminent Godzilla invasion could easily drift into the absurd; yet, the heartfelt vocal performance and soaring instrumentation succeeds in evoking a profound emotional response. A hallucinogenic synth sequence in the song's latter half proves to be yet another masterful stroke by Our Stolen Theory.

When LTN, the Indonesian virtuoso, remixes an already exceptional tune, there is never any doubt that he can arrive at a unique, intricate, and beautiful take. In his gorgeous instrumental mix, he has chosen to infuse "Godzilla Watch" with deep, moody, and cinematic vibes. The soundscape centers on a head-bopping groove, as well as an ominous, yet mellifluous piano theme.

Finally, The Madison lends his club-friendly compositional genius to an absolutely exhilarating pair of remixes: vocal and dub. Hypnotic synths set the stage for a dancefloor-killing, electro-tinged series of drops. Given the euphoric result, it's hard to imagine the vocals better accompanied by any other style of bassline.

Today, Above & Beyond’s overspilling DJ diary reads like a departure board at Heathrow airport. Their debut artist album ‘Tri-State’ sold countless copies worldwide and became a genre classic. Above & Beyond’s songs are sung back to them by tens of thousands of clubbers at the biggest festival stages on the planet and their flagship gigs include launching Richard Branson’s new SpaceShip for Virgin Galactic, rocking 1million people on Rio’s Barra Beach, and a recent sell-out at Brixton Academy. 
Now counting over 200 single releases, an award-winning compilation series and with deeper sub label Anjunadeep in tow, Anjunabeats remains the heartbeat of all Above & Beyond’s activity. Renowned as a taste-making torchbearer for quality uplifting dance music, Anjunabeats has grown into a global label family responsible for nurturing talents like Super8 & Tab, Nitrous Oxide and Mat Zo to both critical acclaim and club supremacy. 

For this anniversary release, Above & Beyond look back over the Anjunabeats’ legacy by mixing 10 timeless tracks that remind us just how forward-thinking the label has been over its 10 years. As well as Above & Beyond’s own classic ‘Can’t Sleep’, tracks like Bart Claessen & Dave Schiemann’s ‘Madness’ (I Prefer This Mix), Signalrunners ‘These Shoulders’, Daniel Kandi’s ‘Breathe’ and Smith & Pledger’s ‘Northern Lights’ still sound as visceral, energising and uplifting as they did the first time round.

Of course, Anjunabeats is a label driven by forward motion and it is for that reason that Above & Beyond present a second of disc updated and reinterpreted versions of those 10 classic tracks, with highlights including a melodic house-influenced remix of Mat Zo’s ‘Synapse Dynamics’ by Russian trance prodigy Arty, a dark, throbbing tech transformation of Super8 & Tab’s brooding but euphoric ‘Helsinki Scorchin’ by Bart Claessen, and Super8 & Tab’s respectful, futuristic version of Above & Beyond’s ‘Can’t Sleep’.
