For Guds vrede
 åpenbares fra himmelen over all ugudelighet \urettferdighet hos mennesker som holder sannheten nede 
(i urettferdighet) . 
For det en kan vite om Gud, ligger åpent for dem, for Gud har åpenbart det for dem. For hans usynlige vesen, både hans evige kraft og hans guddommelighet, har vært synlig fra verdens skapelse av. Det kjennes av hans gjerninger, for at det ikke skal finnes bortforklaringer .
 For selv om de kjente Gud, æret eller takket de ham ikke som Gud. I stedet ble de tomme i sine tanker, og deres hjerter ble formørket. Mens de ga seg ut for å være vise, ble de dårer. Og de byttet bort den uforgjengelige Guds herlighet - mot et bilde, en avbildning- av et forgjengelig menneske og fugler og firbente dyr og krypdyr. (shame on us) 
Derfor overga Gud dem, 
I deres hjerter som lyster til urenhet,
 til å vanære sine lemmer seg imellom. De byttet bort Guds sannhet mot løgnen -
 og æret og dyrket skapningen fremfor Skaperen, Han som er lovprist i evighet.!! Amen. 
Derfor overga Gud dem 
til skammelige lidenskaper. Deres Kvinner byttet om det naturlige samliv med et som er mot naturen. På samme vis forlot også mennene* den naturlige omgang med kvinnen og brant i sitt begjær etter hverandre. Menn drev skammelig utukt med menn, og fikk på sin egen kropp den straffen som var uunngåelig på grunn av deres forvillelse. Og ettersom de ikke brydde seg om å eie Gud i kunnskap, overga Gud dem til et udugelig sinn, så de gjør slikt som ikke sømmer seg.
 De er fulle av all slags urett, umoral, griskhet, ondskap, fulle av misunnelse, mordlyst og strid, svik og falskhet. 
De ble ryktemakere, baktalere, gudshatere, voldsmenn, overmodige, storskrytere, oppfinnsomme til ondt, ulydige mot foreldre, uforstandige, upålitelige, uten naturlig kjærlighet, ubarmhjertige. 
De kjenner godt til Guds rettferdige dom, at de som gjør slikt, fortjener døden. Likevel gjør de ikke bare slikt selv, men de holder også med dem som gjør det.

They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.'
