People who dedicate themselves fully to creating transcendent experiences for their audiences are a rarity, and Van Anh is no exception. Our friends acquainted with the Netherlands' thriving ambient & techno scene will undoubtedly be familiar with Van Anh and her ISOTOOP collective, who together have built events ranging from 12-hour overnight ambient excursions to 'Under the Desert Stars,' a one-off festival in the Moroccan desert. For those of us dreaming of her events from afar, the expert curator shares this dive through her record collection, and in it I hear that boundless creative spirit, the simmering anticipation, the drive to create memories that connect us for a lifetime.

Heading over from the Osaka underground club scene multi-instrumentalist and composer Koshiro Hino better known as YPY takes us into a world of heavy electronics, jazz influences and ritmo percussives. Next to his YPY long-running solo output. Hino is also a musician in a minimalist instrumental band named Goat. With his new record label NAKID he tries to earmark unheard organics and unpredictable ways of sound. 

I'm very pleased that he participated and will be the one to guide us through his musical fascinations.

"I have made this session for Perpendicular Festival 2024, in a wonderful location in the Woods with a special music lover community who had, as me, assisted, listened, danced, and enjoyed three days of an astonishing music experience.
I was the one in charge of the Sunday openning session, so i charged my Vinyl bag with downtempo to wake Up the people on the last leg of this excellent trip.
I Hope those Who listened that day and Who IS listening now enjoy this as i enjoyed made It and play It.

About:
Marco Ragni is an Italian DJ and Producer. His longstanding residency at Serendipity Club, as well as involvement in projects like Rumore Bianco, has allowed him to craft a distinctive style over the years that transcends genres, including ambient, downtempo, tribal, and techno, characterised by the seamless fusion of psychedelic rhythms and hypnotic sounds.
Since 2014, he has been one half of the Plants Army Revolver duo. His extensive background includes owning the record shop Mondo Muzique in Foligno, contributing significantly to the Melantónia Collective based in Berlin, and being one of the minds behind Sintesi Festival. 

About the set:
The mix is an all-vinyl set recorded at the Southern Lights Label Night held at Arkaoda, Berlin in March 2024, w/ Daniel Filipovic, Hanna Maria, Katatonic Silentio (live) and Mattia Onori (live).

Enter the world of SBS through his latest mix for SKIN, where low frequencies, irregular intensities, and rhythmic patterns are fused with glitchy atmospheres. His music style is defined by these unique elements, creating an unpredictable experience.

SBS draws inspiration from conversations with others about music, blending styles, and observing performances of artists who approach music in new ways. 

“I often envision imagined scenarios I want to convey with sounds. Or at least, try to convey. Sometimes it can be accurate or it can lead to new situations. For this set , I tried to convey sounds that resonate with a high voltage substation which operates at max capacity, moments before total system failure. I'm making it intense.”

His sets are curated with tracks that feature novel sounds, low frequencies that resonate with both mind and body, and rhythmic patterns that surprise. SBS enjoys playing tracks in unexpected ways, such as drastically altering the bpm to create a different feel, or combining music that wouldn’t typically go together. The result? An experience that makes listeners think, "What am I listening to right now?"—a blend of energy and combinations that resonate with the subconscious mind, turning introspective or absent-minded.

“Just as some animals begin to prepare for hibernation, cities and people are preparing for winter. It's the season when I miss my bed in the morning, but getting out of your comfort zone is the beginning of finding a new self,” Toner @Yutaroy reflects on Minor Snow while presenting the 6th mix for Orbitinging series.

He mentioned that he was conscious of using tracks with a cold feeling, as well as those that deeply affect the spirit, recreating a groove different from dance music—chilly yet serious, but still heartwarming. Toner added, “Please listen to it at home while you chill out, meditate, and when you are feeling peace and comfort.”

Toner first encountered the alternative underground music scene while living in Taiwan. After returning to Japan, he continued to expand the boundaries of dance music. He is a lover of hidden gems and uncategorizable experimental music. Since 2022, he has started the deep listening-focused chill-out community “LIMINAL DREAMS” with Toss and Kaana, and is responsible for directing events in Tokyo.

He has performed at well-known outdoor festivals such as “rural” and “Transcendence” in Japan, “Organik Festival” in Taiwan, and “Wonderfruit” in Thailand.

“‘67-Oph’ by Strange Antiquark,” which Toner specially selected to share with us, captures the feeling he tried to infuse throughout the entire recording—“unique and has contemporary structure, not too serious, but sounds still fun,” he said.

Toner is always happy to share his music library whenever the opportunity arises, whether at outdoor festivals, clubs or radio shows. He will be presenting an ambient set consisting entirely of Japanese ambient artists at an upcoming festival in December, with more information to be updated on his page. “I am a firm believer that DJs are artists. As a selector, it will be a very challenging and exciting experience,” he added.
