The second output from Unterwegs see’s four killer, club-ready tracks from debutants: The Lady Machine & Amanda Mussi. Label owner The Lady Machine is a veteran Brazilian DJ with nearly 20 years of experience as a purely vinyl DJ. Following a hiatus from the techno scene, over the past two years she has cemented her name in the Berlin community playing at the best events in the city and becoming a regular at the highly-rated event Pornceptual. She's now marked her return with some long-awaited production in the form of two solid, raw techno tracks: Diligence & Vigilance. 

Amanda Mussi, an in-demand Brazilian DJ & producer, marks her step into music production with her full debut release. She has been gaining huge ground over the past few years in the techno scene. She's just completed her second European tour, noticeably playing in Berghain and Whole Festival in Berlin, amongst others. In her hometown of Sao Paulo, she runs a booking agency: Alt Bookings and also runs her Dusk events. Her two tracks for Unterwegs show off 2 tracks with a fast-paced, energetic and 90's inspired techno sound: Rising and Diving.

Tripeo collaborates with fellow Dutch artist Cadans on his self-titled imprint with three original cuts entitled ‘Non Perfect Drone Replication’.

Over the years, Darko Esser aka Tripeo has become a truly respected figure within the techno world. Widely known for helming his acclaimed Wolfskuil Records, BALANS and self-titled label where he’s released an array of his own impressive productions, Darko continues to edge out a corner of the techno sphere through a regular gig and release schedule that’s been of consistent quality for over 20 years. ‘Non Perfect Drone Replication’ marks Tripeo’s first release of the new decade seeing him link up with Dutch producer Cadans who has releases on Clone, Neighbourhood and Hardgroove (when not producing drum and bass as Icicle).

‘Drone’ begins with tense atmospheres and haunting leads underneath the humming percussion and oscillating synths that surge as the track progresses before ‘Non PC’ employs energetic rhythms underneath wavering modulations and spectral tones that keeps this peak-time cut enticing through till the end. To finish, ‘Perfect Replication’ offers up an electro cut that’s peppered with a nostalgic yet modern feel through breaky grooves, alleviating pads and stabbing tones.

PWCCA is making waves lately into the proper techno community, coming from Madrid, this veteran producer has been releasing under diverse aliases since a long time and has been in the tracklists of the most innovative dj’s around in a constant basis.
 
For this digital release he provides an extended player comprising  9 cuts ranging from cosmic landscapes to bleepy and space inspired techno, also including proper rythmic tools.
 
Magnetic field opens the stellar travel with dark processed textures and alien landscapes, setting the mood for Graviton startimg the flow with slow paced beats, distorted textures and walking toms spiced with micro synthetic details.
 
Pulsar begings with a bell like Fm sequence and sharpened hi hats until hi sweeping drones took over the arrangement in the last minutes. Quasar follows with swinging bass frequencies that evolve ina continuous loop until the end of the track.
 
EMC2 fattens the kick drum, adds a profound reverb while an hypnotic sequence grows from below alongside a groovy analog bassline. Singularity has a hi passed filtered sequence as starring, mutating, shaping and evolving constantly. Dones and textures add density to the exercise.
 
Warmhole honours the title with darkened opaque sounds that contrast with the detailed hi frequency percussive workout, again in an hypnotic continuously evolving arrangement.
Lepton uses flanger and modulation to create a liquid and asymmetrical feeling and Spheroid closes the release as it started, with an ambient track ideal to be used as tool or intro.
 
One more time we provide serious techno in this selfie and teenage ruled days.

Token preps new compilation, Fuga, featuring Nastia Reigel, Stefan Vincent, Border One, Dold, PTTRN, Ribé, Linkan Ray & Mark Broom.
The eight track release introduces a brace of new and breaking names to the Belgian outlet, and zeroes in with particular clarity on the label’s by now keenly defined aesthetic - classic, uptempo Techno from the purist end of the genre.
As ever with Token releases - the devil remains distinctly in the detail. Each recording, hand-picked and road tested in a club environment - some for over a year, offers up its own unique and nuanced take on contemporary Techno. The label’s penchant for picking up on the Best in Class shines through, with all parties bringing their strongest work to the fore.
Rising Russian star Nastia Reigel continues a rich vein of form on opener, Pray. In equal parts hypnotic & hard-hitting, the versatile work sets the tone for Fuga, which continues with tripping contributions from Border One & Stefan Vincent - the latter of whom turns in a compilation highlight in the form of Fever Dream. Sweden’s Dold makes an appearance with heady work My Homework Ate My Dog, and PTTRN features with stunning, big room recording Contempt / Suggest 6 - a cast-iron reduction that pulses and warps across its run time. Ribé’s offering The Cause showcases a tentatively more drawn in approach, focusing on groove & tone to great effect, before Fuga returns to the high octane intensity of Linkan Ray’s Introspective Vision. Veteran Mark Broom closes proceedings in considerable style with AR-4, a neat and satisfying tool that showcases the very best of the genre - sharp, effective and economical.
Fuga presents a focused and refined showcase of the Token sound in 2020. The compilation highlights the label’s dedication to the classic tenets of the Techno genre, but at the same time draws attention to its role as a conduit for new talent to receive the exposure it deserves without artistic compromise.

It’s always a pleasure to have a visit from the family, so we welcome again Kessell at home. Not many words needed to introduce this classic producer whose name means skills, futurism and quality.

He offers four cuts of hypnotically driven techno, starting with Killing Vector. Sharp drum work, funky stabs and classy feeling.

Crypto follows with a more alien approach, random Fm sequences, shuffled grooves and asymmetrical synth lines.

Processed for use comes into tooly territories, with opaque sequences that progressively grow from the low part of the sound spectrum and a solid rythm backing, mutating and evolving wisely.

Refuse to conform sounds scifi and bleepy, irregular drum patterns, reverberated synth bleeps and lots of fx processing collide in a super intelligent mix tool.

The Attic Music label strives to keep us dancing in these difficult times with a new EP from red hot young Portuguese talent Nørbak featuring a remix from the label’s owner Fabrizio Lapiana. 

Over the last four years, Artur Moreira has quickly established his avant-garde techno sound on labels like Semantica, Soma, Warm Up Recordings and his own label, Hayes. Always exploring the deep and dark end of the spectrum, he has picked up props from the likes of Oscar Mulero and Dasha Rush while going on to establish his name around Europe with killer sets at places like Tresor in Berlin. 

The excellent 'Pledge I' opens up with a menacing groove that burrows late into an underground cavern. It sounds earthy and organic and the rock solid kick drums get you into a state of hypnosis while the scurrying synths add more details in which to get lost. 'Pledge II' is another masterfully heady and journeying track that layers up more rubbery, propulsive kick drums with fizzing, electrified synth sounds and pads that encircle you and get you into a state of trance. It's hugely warm and atmospheric. 

Over the last decade, Lapiana and his label have become synonymous with evocative techno soundscapes on the finest labels around. Here he serves up a remix of 'Pledge III' that is perfectly smooth and seductive, with soft, looping melodic phrases slowly shapeshifting and melting your mind as they do so. The drums burrow deep into the night and make this a timeless minimal techno classic.  Last of all, 'Pledge IV' is a silky techno track that rolls to infinity, with cosmic pads and subtle melodies all weaving around each other and tying your brain in knots.  

This is another tasteful EP of high grade techno that works mind, body and soul.

It is really inspiring to find that there are young producers out there like that are pushing the boundaries and trying to sound futuristic and original in this mediochre instagram days.
This is the case of CONCEPTUAL half of the Berlin based duo  Beat Movement. 
He offers ten diverse approaches to scifi techno, ranging from the cinematic Red Sun and Null Respekt to the dynamic and floor oriented numbers like Basilisk, Nocturnal or Blue Spirit. To the twisted and abstract Upside Down, Healing Dance or More wants more ...or the tribal and shuffled exercises like Paradise of Poets and Tasmanian Devil.
As we said, original, risky, futuristic, and carefully done by a young producer that will have for sure a lot more to showcase in the coming years.

After a successful return in 2019, Krill delivers a fourth encore to the three-part 27 track VA titled Okiami.

This time the focus is on up and coming artists from all over Europe with a special spotlight on Ukraine where the label founder has recently relocated.
Assonance, Synthkey, Detcom & Enforming and Danilenko all join the series from the capital city of Kyiv reflecting the raw and expressive energy that flows through the streets of Podil. The track ‘Knives On Reds’ holds a special place in the VA as a memory of the recently passed artist Enforming who was Detcoms collaborator at the time. Spanish newcomer Phalcon and rising artist Anna Kost who recently put out some excellent work on Londons’  Pls.Uk deliver peak time heat in straight and broken beat forms from their base in Berlin. Nima Khak [SAND] and +Plattform whose work can be heard on Bergens collective Ploink, bring some much-welcomed northern groove into the mix while to the south, Athenian - Mr Dello delivers an all out driven analogue assault.
