as a composer, I'm interested in finding novel sounds to work with. synthesizing them from software can be a creative way to play with abstract, mathematically generated sounds, but sounds from life can carry associations, memories, even identity, and lose or change them when manipulated or placed in new contexts.
this piece is built on manipulated field recordings from the street, public transport, and my workplace in a commercial venue.
i chose to use only slow, breath-like rhythms without strong transients and no sounds with identifiable physical sources. these choices distance the piece from everyday sounds and most music, creating something that is felt better than it is understood. 
in the sense that Swedenborg's legacy invites us to view life and the material world as divine poetry, love embodied in all things, constantly moving in tune with the world of spirits, field recording invites us to consider all noise a soundtrack, and sampling invites us to consider the associations of given sounds, treating them as raw material to create entirely new sonic experiences.

IN HER EYES is Jack Taylor (vocals, bass, production), Ollie Jude (guitar, vocals) and Ray Meho (drums). 

Beginning as a lockdown project, IN HER EYES has experimented with many genres and styles over the years and continuously worked with other musicians in their local scene in order to continuously reinvent themselves. This all comes to a head on their debut LP "If They're Digging Their Own Grave, They've Got a Plot For You As Well", which sees the group lean far more into a more accessible band-oriented sound while still retaining their quirky, bedroom-pop and lo-fi inspired production and affinity for glitchy, autotuned melodies.
