Description:
After spending a couple of days tidying up the NOF_MidNote2CC M4L device to now work with Live 12, I had to have a "play" with it. Taking the default Wind in The Reeds sound from one of my field recordings, I began to improvise and liked what I heard. The field recording was dropped on to the Granulator III (Robert Henke), the NOF_MidiNote2CC was controlling the granular synth position through midi note pitchIDs and the granular synthesiser volume with midi VelocityIDs. A standard piano layout keyboard to develop the melodic part on the granular synth track, the Push2 (with note repeat of 1/16th notes) on a seperate track for the NOF_MidiNote2CC device to drive the granular synth, here effectively a filter and rhythm driver.

Percussion was added via one of the Live drum kits, tried a few starting with "W", settled on one, and just simply stuck with it. I came up with a rhythm that suited a 17/16 time signature, so changed the song default to this and all other tracks used the same.

So that is where the title of "Seventeen" comes from, the slightly off kilter 17/16 time signature.

The Soma Pipe was sitting right in front of me and was beckoning me to use it, so I improvised some vocals using various settings. Then looking around my room, I saw my custom built over-tone flute (left over from recycling our exercise machine) and didgeridoo (wooden, from Northern Territory, Australia), so improvised on those instruments. These were fed to the Soma Pipe via a Sure Green Bullet Mic -> LR Baggs Paraacoustic DI. Soma effect was selected to Reverb.

Improvised keyboard sections for the beginning and end using the Rhodes sounding like instrument of Live. "Dirty Back Roads".

Based in Kernow ( Cornwall ) For me its the music and the connections it makes. Expect some genre bending electronic music - Breaking the grid both vertically and horizontally but attempting to still be listenable.

I like to synthesise most things and I prefer uncompressed mixes and masters. If its quiet its probably meant to be a lullaby.
