For our third installment, we bring you a no-frills, sub-shaking mix from Montreal DJ-producer @skinnybones!

CIRCLECAST is a series of recordings from friends, artists, DJs, and performers from our surrounding community, intended to inspire connections and rave memories. Like our live events, our podcast is separated into various series, each representing a different style/aesthetic. This mix falls under Somatic Spirit, our more vibey/eclectic offering. 

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺(𝘀) 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰?

I love visual arts. I’m a graphic designer by day, and the perfect union between sound and images that are record sleeves pushed me into that career path.

𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿, 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗯𝘂𝗺𝘀, 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀-𝘁𝘂 ?

J’ai un appétit musical assez omnivore, et je vais accrocher sur des trucs assez différents. Mais je dirais que le free-jazz est une musique qui ne cesserait de me nourrir. Alice Coltrane, Leroy Jenkins, Muhal Richard Abrams, Art Ensemble, Sun Ra et Pharaoh Sanders sont des musiciens et compositeurs que j’affectionne particulièrement.

𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱/𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀?

With music, I try to install a sense of abandon and, if I’m lucky, communion. I am a pretty cerebral person, so I really crave being pulled back into my body. If the music is right, I eventually transcend my body and enmesh myself with others in an even larger organism.

𝗗𝗲́𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀-𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗝 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗲́𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗱'𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗱𝗲́𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗶.

Il fait noir, il y a deux tables tournantes bien calibrées, je suis près des gens, je porte un t-shirt avec “no requests” ou “dont ask me 4 shit” ou quelque chose du genre.
