"May Your Dreams Come True" is the latest album from the Athenian crooner Johnny Labelle, an introspective journey that delves into themes of isolation, uncertainty, and the gap between dreams and reality. Written in the midst of a tumultuous time, the songs reflect on the despair and questioning of the future that have become all too familiar in recent years, but also serve as a beacon of hope, a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always the possibility of a brighter future.

Co-produced with the multi-talented musician, producer and illustrator Fred Afraid, an old friend and musical companion, the album was completed with the help of Ilias Livieratos (Dury Dava, Wild Terrier Orchestra) on drums and Kaliopi Mitropoulou (Oi Va Voi, Pan Pan, Echo Tides) on violin. The album was recorded at Electric Highway Studios by Jon Vulgaris.

Ο Αθηναίος crooner Johnny Labelle επιστρέφει με το νέο album του, May Your Dreams Come True.

Ένα εσωστρεφές ταξίδι, που εμβαθύνει στα θέματα της απομόνωσης, της αβεβαιότητας και του χάσματος ανάμεσα στις προσδοκίες και την πραγματικότητα. Τα κομμάτια, γραμμένα σε μια ταραχώδη περίοδο, αντικατοπτρίζουν το άγχος και την αβεβαιότητα για το μέλλον, συναισθήματα, που έχουν καταστεί υπερβολικά γνώριμα τα τελευταία χρόνια, αλλά παράλληλα λειτουργούν και ως φάρος ελπίδας, μια υπενθύμιση ότι ακόμα και στις πιο σκοτεινές εποχές υπάρχει πάντα η ελπίδα για ένα πιο φωτεινό μέλλον.

Την παραγωγή του δίσκου συνυπογράφει ένας παλιός φίλος και συνεργάτης του Labelle, ο πολυτάλαντος μουσικός, παραγωγός και illustrator Fred Afraid. Η ηχογράφηση του album ολοκληρώθηκε με την βοήθεια του Ηλία Λιβιεράτου (Dury Dava, Wild Terrier Orchestra) στα τύμπανα και της Καλλιόπης Μητροπούλου (Oi Va Voi, Pan Pan, Echo Tides) στο βιολί, στο στούντιο Electric Highway από τον Γιάννη Βούλγαρη.

Νotowns started as a duet based in Athens and Piraeus in 2021, a remedy for quarantine boredom and disorientation, but soon emerged into a 3-piece band and a highly addictive bad habit.

With a love for dystopian forecasting, black humour and awkward dance moves, they come up with a plan to dance the chaos away. 
Their sound - a rough mix of dysfunctional post punk and neurotic disco - is inspired by abandoned
supermarket trolleys, sunbaked rooftops, screaming alarm clocks and deformed waiting queues. 
With a luxurious but overlooked past in the local punk scene, the Notowns idiosyncrasy is rooted in the diy ethics,
which is clearly evident in the way they write and record their songs, design their covers and videos.

Their debut album Joyride, self recorded, mixed and produced, consists of a strong dose of hard-hitting drum machines,
face melting basslines and guitars, with a pinch of analog synth elements and vitriol lyrics on top.

Joyride is out on LP and Digital in April 2023 via Inner Ear.

Οι Notowns ξεκίνησαν ως ντουέτο με έδρα την Αθήνα και τον Πειραιά το 2021, περισσότερο σαν ένα αντίδοτο για την πλήξη και τον αποπροσανατολισμό της καραντίνας. Σύντομα όμως εξελίχθηκαν σε ένα συγκρότημα τριών μελών και σε μια πολύ εθιστική κακή συνήθεια.

Με αγάπη για τις δυστοπικές προβλέψεις, το μαύρο χιούμορ και τις αμήχανες χορευτικές κινήσεις, σκέφτηκαν ένα πλάνο για να ξεφύγουν από το χάος.
Ο ήχος τους - ένας συνδυασμός δυσλειτουργικού post punk και νευρωτικής ντίσκο - είναι εμπνευσμένος από εγκαταλελειμμένα καρότσια σούπερ μάρκετ, ηλιοκαμένες ταράτσες, ξυπνητήρια που ουρλιάζουν και παραμορφωμένες ουρές αναμονής.
Με ένα πλούσιο αλλά αγνοούμενο παρελθόν στην τοπική πανκ σκηνή, η ιδιοσυγκρασία των
Notowns έχει τις ρίζες της στο DIY, κάτι που φαίνεται ξεκάθαρα στον τρόπο που γράφουν και ηχογραφούν τα τραγούδια τους, σχεδιάζουν τα εξώφυλλα και τα βίντεό τους.

Το ντεμπούτο album τους Joyride, στο οποίο έχουν κάνει οι ίδιοι τις ηχογραφήσεις, την μίξη και
την παραγωγή, αποτελείται από μια γερή δόση επιθετικών drum machines, ισοπεδωτικές
μπασογραμμές και κιθάρες, μια πρέζα από αναλογικά synth στοιχεία και όλα αυτά με μια
γαρνιτούρα βιτριολικών στίχων.

Ο ΜΑΖΟΗΑ παρουσιάζει το νέο του album με τον απειλητικό τίτλο «Ας τους Σκοτώσουμε Όλους και Μετανιώνουμε Ύστερα».

Το «Ας Τους Σκοτώσουμε Όλους...» είναι γνήσιο παιδί μίας πολυδιάστατης εποχής ψηφιακών μέσων και γρήγορης ταχύτητας, όπου τα πάντα μοιάζουν να περιφέρονται γύρω από μία μαύρη τρύπα. Indie ροκ και πανκ τραγούδια, ποπ μπαλάντες και hip hop επιρροές συνθέτουν το πολύπλευρο μουσικό προφίλ του δίσκου. Στιχουργικά, περισσότερο κατασταλαγμένος από ποτέ και χωρίς να χάνει τον αυτοσαρκασμό του, καταθέτει 17* ελληνόστιχα τραγούδια, που υμνούν την αρχή και το τέλος του έρωτα, την ελπίδα και την απελπισία και αναμετριούνται με την πατριαρχία, την βαρεμάρα της καθημερινότητας, το κοινωνικό τέλμα και τον θάνατο. 

Ο Τζίμης Πολιούδης  ηχογράφησε το άλμπουμ, τον Ιούνιο του 2022, απομονωμένος στο σπίτι του, αφουγκραζόμενος προσωπικά αλλά και εξωτερικά ερεθίσματα και γεγονότα. Η συνηθισμένη του δημιουργική μοναχικότητα σ’ αυτό τον δίσκο διακόπτεται από ενδιαφέρουσες συνεργασίες: η Nalyssa Green συμμετέχει στο ντουέτο «Αποσμητικό», ο Θωμάς Στρατάκης (Green Was Greener) συνυπογράφει την μουσική στα κομμάτια «Μελλοντικέ Μου Εαυτέ» και «Τι Θα Γίνει» και ο Κώστας Θεοδωρίδης έχει γράψει τους στίχους στο «Ανώδυνο».

MAZOHA drops his new album with the threatening title “As tous Skotosoume Olous ke Metanionoume Istera (Let’s Kill Them All and Regret Later)”.

“As tous Skotosoume Olous...” is a genuine child of a multidimensional era of digital media and fast-paced living, where everything seems to revolve around a black hole. Indie rock and punk songs, pop ballads and hip-hop influences make up the album's versatile sonic profile. Thematically, more mature than ever and without losing his self-mockery, he presents 17* Greek-lyric songs that celebrate the beginning and end of love, hope and despair, and confront patriarchal society, the boredom of everyday life, social stagnation, and death.
MAZOHA recorded the album in June 2022, isolated at home, focused on personal and external stimuli and events. His usual creative solitude on this album has been interrupted by interesting collaborations: Nalyssa Green made a guest appearance on the duet "Aposmitiko (Deodorant)", Thomas Stratakis (Green Was Greener) has co-written the music on the tracks “Mellodike Mou Eafte (My Future Self)" and "Ti Tha Gini (What Will Happen)" and Kostas Theodoridis wrote the lyrics on "Anodino (Painless)".

Annoncé par un EP il y a près d’un an, YELLI YELLI est le nouveau projet d’Emi Hanak. L’album “Terre de mon poème” chante une identité renforcée dans l’exil. Une identité du futur ?
Née d’une mère Kabyle et d’un père aux origines tchèques et chtis, Emi Hanak porte un métissage complexe qu’elle n’aura de cesse de frotter à des mondes encore plus étrangers pour espérer un jour appréhender le sien. De la Suède au Japon, en passant par l’Amérique du Nord, Emi Hanak s’exile et trace ce questionnement en chansons douces, ou plus rageuses. Avec son projet Milkymee, elle enregistre plusieurs albums qu’elle balade sur la scène internationale. Elle écrit aussi la musique du film Domaine, avec Béatrice Dalle.
Plus tard, en quête d’un regard extérieur qui pourrait l’aider à cartographier son héritage et son itinérance, Emi approche Piers Faccini avec en tête le projet de reprendre des chansons Kabyles. La rencontre va cependant agir comme un révélateur. Car après avoir partagé une première session, ils réalisent que l’écriture de chansons originales va beaucoup mieux servir l’intention du projet Yelli-Yelli. Le LP Terre de mon poème rassemble les chansons nées de cette rencontre.
Tout comme Piers Faccini, Emi Hanak est enfant de migrants et n’appartient plus vraiment à un territoire. D’instinct, ces artistes font alors le choix de s’ouvrir davantage afin de construire eux-mêmes leur identité. Leur musique exprime cet ADN mélangé, riche de la mémoire tendre qu’ils vouent aux anciens et de tout ce qui les a rendus moins étrangers au Monde. Même si ils parlent de racines, les textes de l’album sont ceux d’une jeune femme bien inscrite dans son siècle, à l’aise avec son bagage bigarré. Et Faccini apporte à ce manifeste intime de l’identité des mélodies et des arrangements qui soulignent à merveille les sentiments troublés, puis la force puisée dans ce beau métissage assumé.
Emi Hanak a écrit la plupart des textes, sur des compositions de Piers Faccini - lequel assure également la réalisation pour son label Beating Drum. Sur l’album, les guitares électriques se mélangent aux bourdons hypnotiques dans le mariage improbable du rock indé avec un folk du Maghreb. Les chansons passent sans complexes des ballades posées au groove d’une transe qu’on aurait allumée au son de surf-guitars rockabilly. Nous sommes bien en 2016 ! Enfin pour assurer la base rythmique de l’ensemble, Faccini a fait appel à Simone Prattico, le batteur virtuose qui l’accompagne depuis de nombreux projets.
Infusée d’une poésie soutenue par la scansion et la répétition que l’on trouve dans la poésie Kabyle, la voix d’Emi Hanak donne à son chant les impulsions d’une danse, parfois d’une transe lente aux accents chamaniques. Côté compositions, Faccini a dessiné pour cet album l’unité mélodique et rythmique d’une histoire qui évite tous les pièges du lyrisme et de la nostalgie. Fou de sons, Piers excelle à tisser l’atmosphère qui installe l’univers de chaque chanson, comme par exemple la subtile introduction à Yemma, ou le titre Algérie. A d’autres endroits, il lance des cadences entêtantes (No one ever returns, Achnou), sublime des chœurs (Azzad, They grin), et signe le superbe titre Land and country, aussi inoubliable et à sa place pour clôturer l’album que l’est Terre de mon poème, écrit par Emi pour introduire le songe fondateur de YELLI-YELLI.
