The monthly "Clen's List" playlists comes from the great music that comes across on Soundcloud each month. Of course this wouldn't be possible without the work of all the producers, reposters, promoters, and suggestions from others, so thanks and big up to everyone out there sharing and producing these sounds.

Another goal of these lists is to promote the artists producing the tunes. There are some really incredible less known productions that float around and just don't wind up in the "spotlight". By including these productions in the lists, hopefully these great works get their time in the spotlight.

P.S. Overtime the lists lose tracks that were originally included. I do not know if this is due to artists removing their tracks from Soundcloud (or the tracks get bought by a record company and then removed), or if there is another reason. Chromatic - Aspalls

Paul SG returns to Soul Deep with this new 3 track stunner.  The EP starts off strong with a classic amen roller called, "Xamplo".  The song is a classic from the golden Good Looking Records collection, but never got released.  It features jazzy riffs, a bouncing bassline, and an undeniable Amen Break.  The second track is a real stunner called, "Nothing Leads Nowhere".  The song is a new production from Paul and features a hi passed amen drum loop, laid back samples and a summer feeling groove that immediately puts the sunshine back into your life.  The third track, "Unusually Agitated", rounds out the EP in fine style.  The song features a heavy amen drum loop, chiming keys, and echoing efx that make this a dreamy masterpiece.

Top level producer, DJ, and ONE7SIX owner, Blade delivers some wicked, one of a kind tunes to Smooth N Groove in his EP 'Russian Funk'.

Starting off with a deep groove, 'Russian Funk' is sure to hit listeners with its atmospherics and warms up listeners ears for what's to come nicely. Moving into the second tune, increasing the pressure with 'Baba Yaga' which continues to build and build the energy and incorporates some clever use of instrumentals. Afterwards, the third track 'FAY' steps in really giving a classic soul type feeling, and a track which has had those in the scene eagerly awaiting a release since its early support. Finally, closing out the EP 'Every Wish to Me' makes beautiful use with atmospherics building into a heavy bassline to keep you moving till the very end.

Very grateful to be releasing this EP, much looking forward to hearing these played out on the sound systems soon!

After smashing out an awesome mix for Chronic Rollers Vol. 3 earlier this year, Brazilian producer/DJ L-Side returns to the fold with his stunning 'Love Vibration EP' as V Recordings prepares to release his debut album. 

Starting his music career as a Hip Hop producer in his native city of SÃ£o Paulo and taking his influence from the more soulful side of the sound, he soon became hypnotised by the sounds of Drum & Bass and gained fans in the scene such as DJ Marky, Bryan Gee, LTJ Bukem, Bailey, Doc Scott, among others. L-Side signed to the V camp in 2016, and has sneaked out a few choice cuts whilst working on his debut album. 

The 'Love Vibration EP' is the perfect mixture of funk, atmosphere, soul, minimalistic in places and deep all the way through. 
Opening track 'Dark Matter' starts as the EP means to go on with a brooding bassline and heavy drums. 'Love Vibration' then opens out the EP with a truly deep & spiritual vocal from Ras Tweed and typically on point production from L-Side. 'Rain' is next up, and again vibrates on the low end with a hefty helping of musicality and a soulful vocal from Christina Tamayo. Lastly 'Heads or Tails' drops in with big rolling drums and plenty of dancefloor ambition to round off the package. 

The 'Love Vibration EP' is a warning shot of whats to come from this talented producer. Watch for his debut album coming soon...

Brazilian producer L-Side releases his highly anticipated new album ‘Carnal Mind’ on the 6th April.

Featuring American rapper Jeru The Damaja, British rapper DRS, dancehall/grime artist Lady Chann, and drum and bass vocalists MC Fats, MC Darrison and MC Conrad, the release is via the legendary drum and bass record label, V Recordings.

Taking his influence from Hip Hop artists such as Jazz Liberatorz, The Pharcyde and Tribe Called Quest, L-Side is making his mark in the world of raw dancefloor focused drum and bass. Originally producing hip-hop beats before branching into Drum and Bass, he is known for his meticulous mix of upfront and aggressive sounds merged with funk and soul styles, forging a flawlessly fresh take on drum and bass.

Leonardo de Jesus Silva, aka L-Side, began his career as a DJ and Producer in 2008 and the Sao Paulo born producer has gone on to cement himself as one of the most formidable producers to hail from the flourishing and highly respected Brazilian drum and bass scene, which is home to some of the most inventive and funkiest contributors to drum & bass this century.

As a nation bursting at the seams with prolific and highly talented producers, L-Side has managed to emerge as one of the most exceptional and ‘Carnal Mind’ proves the point.

‘Holding On’ ft. Lady Chann, is a dark, brooding, half time number, full of menacing atmosphere – infusing elements of dancehall and grime, complemented perfectly by Lady Chann’s ferocious, trademark vocal delivery while tracks like ‘High Times’ unleash unrelenting breakbeat right from the gate. Pulsating synths add momentum, channelling subterranean depths as MC Fats patois-tinged vocals ride overhead. The dark storm clouds clear briefly, allowing celestial pads to momentarily reset the atmosphere before hurling the listener straight back into the thick of it. 

Having released music on such labels as Philly Blunt, Chronic, Celsius and Soul Deep, his music has been supported by DJs from around the world, including DJ Marky, Bryan Gee, LTJ Bukem, Bailey and Doc Scott, while new single ‘Holding On’ received it’s first official play from Mista Jam on BBC Radio 1Xtra.

In addition to his solo recordings, L-Side has collaborated with fellow V producers, Subsid, Andrezz and Critycal Dub among others.

The legendary drum and bass record label, V Recordings, was set up in 1993 by Jumpin' Jack Frost and Bryan Gee. Few record labels can claim to have changed the face of their respective scene. Celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2018, since its birth, the label has released over 100 cuts from the likes of Marky & XRS, Krust and Die, Adam F, Lemon D, Scorpio, Dillinja and Roni Size.

Goldfat is back and this time we've brought some Missouri flavour!

Winslow first caught our attention last year with a string of self-released material, so we were beaming when he sent us these two slabs of hot sauce coated funk.

'Snap Out Of It' begins with Winslow rapping about overcoming obstacles before dropping into tapping percussion and twisted chopped samples that nod to hip-hop and distorted reese-basslines. This track feels like you're sitting drunk at a bar in a bad state of mind whilst a wise and worldly bartender gives you a much-needed pep talk.

'Swing and Miss' teases jazz drums, soaring melodies and spoken word poetry that talks of freeing your inhibitions and becoming one with the music before dropping into minimal drum and bass that does indeed swing. Weaving the vocal samples in and out and some fresh techno licks conjures up images of block parties and the early house and techno scenes in the states.
