Exotica is the first various artists compilation by Inner Shah Recordings. The Portuguese label invites artists from all over the world to explore the realms of Organic House through their very own artistic takes on the subgenre. Exotica, compiled by Madd Rod, features original works from himself, Bernardo Mota, Cano Guru, David Armada, Garcia, MaguPi and Ten Years Sober. Besides the original tracks, the compilation also features remixes of two Madd Rod tracks, one by the hands of Sylva Drums and the other by Dope (PT) working in conjunction with Cano Guru. Just like the label, the compilation pretends to be eclectic and unpretentious, giving artists room for creativity.

After the success of Memoria, La Rito and Magupi join forces to give something back to the community. They create Mayahuasca, a downtempo groovy tool offered as a free download. In this track that is La Rito's first adventure below 100 bpm, they explore the banjo of Tzen Tze Re Rei with hints of the original vocal, parts of a documentary about Ayahuasca and Magupi's brilliant jams on the marimba and the keyboard. For us, this EP is like a dialectic of listening, a revelation.
In the unobtrusive, almost inconspicuous, there is a form of restraint that is the essence of the “Meeronauten” and that draws our attention in their silent and almost secret way.

Andreas Balicki combines the restrained calm of percussive rhythms with powerful bass lines and wide spheres in cozy dreams. A very special world is created, which arises hidden in the depths of the forest, initially revealing itself only hesitantly in order to unfold its full potential in ecstasy.

This flight is accompanied by an earthy-hypnotic remix by the German-South African duo @ladsmusique, who, with their very own style, sensitively combine precision and soul at the same time.

An interest in ancestral Latin American cosmology has always run right through the music of Ecuadorian music producer Nicola Cruz. His creative process involves an attentive, careful search for the living roots and rituals that are part of South American identity—its Andean and African origins in particular—valuing its rhythms, its oral traditions, its instruments and the energy they transmit. His first record, Prender el Alma (2015) explored the development of the consciousness and spirituality, and how they connect with music. In Siku, his most recent production, Cruz continues this exploration, expanding his vision towards new stories and other cultures as sources of inspiration. A crucial aspect on this journey is his collaboration with other artists from around the world.

The siku is a wind instrument of Andean origin, highly symbolic in ancestral rituals, made up of two separate, complementary parts, the arca and the ira. It is a representation of duality, an essential element of the indigenous world view, associated with involvement and complementarity, far from the binary thinking typical of western societies. That duality is reflected on this record in the coming together of sounds, whether electronic or organic, past or present, local or global. On Siku, Nicola Cruz combines instruments with symbolic, spiritual connotations, such as the sitar, the siku, and the balafon with hints of electronica. Studies of the samba, cumbia and rhythms of African, Andean and Hindu origin are combined with Cruz’s characteristically unpredictable, mystical style.

An argentinean producer/luthier and a British producer/environmental activist joined by the love of traditional music and slow electronics, under the premise of “music without borders”. This led to the birth of the Shika Shika collective some five years ago but also their collaborative project, HIstory of Colour.
Since 2013, Agustin Rivaldo (Barrio Lindo) and Robin Perkins (El Búho) been working together under the premise of finding and tuning their crossover sound as History of Colour.
After the unexpected success of their last EP “ Calidoso”, History of Colour is back to present their debut album, “Antumbra”.

These two producers, who have each made a name for themselves in the Latin American downtempo electronica scene, have been slow-roasting this eight instrumental track release for the past two years. Since they started to collaborate, their creative processes have always been done remotely. Though this album started like this, they took the opportunity to come together in person for different sessions.

On the album the duo explore a new path, one that envelops the essence of their South American musical inspirations with darkly happy melodies and psychedelic arpeggios. Featuring German talent M.RUX, frequent Shika Shika collaborator, and Portuguese composer MaguPi, “Antumbra” writes the next chapter of this musical brotherhood.

Shika Shika Collective will also release the project that encapsulates the beginnings of the collective on vinyl for the first time.

Márcio Pinto aka Magupi, is a talented 
multi-instrumentalist and composer, 
equiped with a degree in Classical Studies, 
specialized in the marimba, balafon and 
african percussion. He taught masterclass 
level at the renowned Oporto Music 
University and played in a number of 
World Music bands and orchestras 
including Oporto Symphonic Orchestra. 
Magupi also spent a lot of time in West 
Africa learning from his masters and 
drinking inspiration, rhythms and sounds. 
He integrates his classical, afro and 
electronic knowledge into his live sets, 
playing the electro-acoustic marimba with 
a diverse aray of tracks widely influenced 
by music around the world, with organic, 
deep and unique elements. 
Magupi sets have varied from afternoon
acoustic ambience to late night dance 
floor bangers, igniting each scenario with 
his magnetic energy and sound!
